Freddies 2002

In light of what happened on 9-11-01, and the subsequent impact on the airline industry will the Freddie awards still happen this year? If so, does anyone know when.

I could imagine the new categories....

Airline WITH food in Y:
Airline with most flights left:
Etc. you get the picture....
Is ontime performance montiored anymore?

All in all, I can however see that CO will not get many votes with their HoKeY fare rules as DL lost as a result this year.

I would still vote for CO. DL still lags behind CO.. I'm not quite sure who I would have a better plan. AA sure has a good one and could have a good arguement for the award, UA, hmmm my only vote would be to spit on Mileage Plus, NW ahh below CO thats for sure, so as imperfect as CO is, I can't say I'd rather be in anyone else's shoes... again, AA probably has a good arguement. Edited to say Its not like any other FF program has actually improved.

My sentiments exactly, NJDavid. Last year I toyed with the idea of listing CO as the top FF program, but rating them a 1 to drive down their overall score. I didn't do that and voted for AA instead. This year I know better....CO will be on my ballot and it will receive a 1 from me.

Any details?

Randy mentioned that the date is set for April 25, 2002. But where?

If you are strictly looking at FF programs, NW WorldPerks is probably the best. Granted, NW is NOT the best airline, but they have unlimited FC upgrades for elite members, a decent international policy overall and good bonuses. I will vote for NW this year.

I would vote strongly against AA for their blanket renewal policy. UA at least didn't give it away to people who didn't fly UA. There are too dang many AA Plat's out there now.

My vote will go to America West this year, the FF program is the best, 750 miles/seg, 3000 miles internet booking bonus, unlimited free upgrades.

The airline is something else, but it's improved a lot! (as if it had anywhere else to go)

i think it's important to keep in mind that the freddies are simply about the frequent flyer plan. you must keep your personal opinion of the airline seperate.

that being said, NW worldperks is going to rank higher than onepass on my ballot. NW offers basically the same benefits as CO, but makes it easier to use the miles with their online booking capability.

95% of my flying was on OnePass partners last year, so I'm not really qualified to vote for other programs. gotta stick with the devil i know...

and yes, the latest HoKeY enhancement is being taken into account when i consider my CO ballot...

CO is still the most consistant at delivering the goods.

Randy told me last year that he was considering Chicago for the Freddies this year.

Hopefully he'll stay with New York - the center of the universe.
