end of year FF promo roundup
hello all!
well, seeing as stores were closing down yesterday and i could have sworn someone accidentally put out the valentine's day decorations already, i figured i'd start with the "end of year" lists
being new to all this, i'm in no way able to contribute to this, but i was just wondering what you longer-term members thought were the best FF promos this year? (promos from the FF programs themselves or promos that allowed you to earn FF miles, like goldpoints/valuemags.)
perhaps a top 5 or top 10 list?
kind regards
firefly

I have to agree with Ingy here. AA 20/20 was like pulling my hair out (I would say teeth, but I hate that joke
) Got about 150,000 miles on AA for my 4 family members.
Then in a couple of hours I got over 40,000 miles thru Value mags. Easiest miles ever! Only bought mags that my office, immediate family, neices and siblings would enjoy. (Merry Christmas Family!)
I am just beginning to put into use fscher's idea for Hallmark gift certs. (THANKS fscher!) I will prepay for things we would normally do for lots of AA miles.
Last half of 2001 has brought a windfall of miles for items I would have bought anyway.
I have also benefitted from double points with Marriott (and Rewarding Marriott Weekends). Then there were double miles from Delta. Plus Rake in the Miles from Delta.
Now we all have to figure out how to actually use these miles. Surely the dilution will make it more difficult to redeem!

- All of the major US airlines offering a free domestic R/T for 15K miles shortly after 9/11
- DEFINITELY the Hickory Farms/Valuemags bonanza in conjunction with Goldpoints
Now I'm going to do a Search for threads involving Hallmark - this thread is the first that I've heard of it and I'm anxious to find out what it's all about!!

Valentines day items in the stores?
In doing my Christmas shopping for next year in today's sales, hitting the stores starting at 6am I not only spied Valentines Heart shaped candy boxes at Kmart, but get this..... EASTER items at Joanne Etc!!!!
I guess it is only a matter of time before we can get the halloween candy!!

Platinum challenge on AA.
Got my Platinum tier in one flight and am very close to EXP. If only I had hopped onto the AA board earlier than November...

Well I think the whole double miles that most of the airlines ran from 10/1 to 12/15 was pretty cool.
But my favorite was the Double Tier Miles on USAirways for NC and GA residents!

I also liked the NW 10K for non-flying partner use. I was able to snag that with normal business travel (car rental, eating out, etc.), and the rest of my family each also got the 10K with a very small outlay.
The HHonors 50K promo(s) definitely rocked!
Oh, forgot AS' 2-4-6-8 promo with NW. Again, a lot of bonus miles (20K) for not much effort.
