Airports

I think the Potomac approach is nicknamed "River Vigil"--nice to hear on the head phones as you are dropping over the Monuments.

Midway is fun--seeing the city and a tiny patch of airport for your big plane to hit. I thought I read that at one point, Midway was the second busiest airport in the world. (Maybe 1973 before ORD opened??)

Ushuaia, TF, Argentina is another tight one. The old airport was just barely long enough for a 727, before you land in the water (I think there was a poster with a 727 in the drink, does anyone recall this?) They have added some landfill and re-oriented things to make it better now, but coming over the mountains to land on the island is quite exciting.

Bumpy: Queenstown, NZ has a great view of mountains that ring it, but when you get above them, the wind can kick you around in a most unpleasant way.

Mexico City (Benito Juarez) is getting my recommendation for the nicest mens room. They went overboard with marble when they re-did the wc's by gate 19, and with someone there to keep things clean all the time they are worlds apart from the old ones.

Bogota also has a quick fall from altitude to get into the valley.

I would put EWR ahead of DEN and SFO for runway time.

And what about Westchester County NY airport for that Amelia Earhardt feeling taxing up to the quonset huts? (This was before the renovations in 1995.)

Renaming: I will NOT call IAH "George Bush Houston Intercontinental" or whatever they did to slap his name on it.
