Free Miles?

I was at Walmart and I bought a gift certificate. I bought something then I returned it and they gave me cash. I know I can't return the gift certificate but I CAN return stuff I bought with the gift certificate for cash. Seems like a free way to get miles on my VISA... What do you think?

Sounds like a lot of hassle.. plus, I think they might keep track of people who return things excessively.

Carefully review Wal-Mart's policies. Whether they refund cash is based on the value of the return, length since return, whether you have receipt, etc. It's not that simple. And it can vary from store to store.

I worked at a Wal-Mart during my freshman year of college. All in all, it wasn't a horrible gig.

The managers are cool about returns, especially when you have a receipt. Excessive returns though (and excessive can vary wildly from store to store and manager to manager) will quickly sour everyone's attitude towards you.

It will work for a bit, but not for too long. Overall, there are probably better ways to do it . . .

Most chain stores now sell gift certificates. Many of them are one time use and give cash back as change.

Well, you know the rest.
