My Very First Time

Hello folks. This is my very first posting on FlyerTalk. I've been in the shadows, lurking. You all are an impressive group. Yep...I'm hooked: I'm still working my way through all of the links that Flyertalkers have recommended.
I've read many great postings in the FlyerTalk archival threads from air legends like afang, MRLIMO, Tango, Plato90s, & so many others.
Rookie dilemma: I go to Orlando Jan 23 to compete in a national AAU fastpitch tourney at Disney. I want to devote Jan 23 to a pseudo-mileage run, i.e., start out of DCA & end up in MCO. Goal: rack up segments / miles, preferably AA or CO. Reason: this is one place I ain't gotta go into reasons, eh?
Problem: using aa.com, expedia, travelocity, et.al. per info gleaned from this site = not very good results. I figure by using aa.com & punching in flights through their major hubs (DCA-ORD-STL-DFW-MIA-MCO-MIA-DCA) I can achieve the goal. Anyone's guidance / sage advice / size 13 would be welcomed. You guys have got it goin' on...

Welcome, Snake Pliskin. I'm glad you came out of the shadows. This is a pretty cool place! Since you've been lurking awhile you aren't exactly a newbie, but as a friendly piece of advice, "Jump on in. Ask some questions. Answer some questions. Give away some coupons. Ask for some coupons. Stay out of flame wars. FT really is what we make it."

I don't fly AA so I will leave the suggestions to some of the more seasoned veterans around here. However, a potentially helpful idea popped into my mind.

What other airlines can you earn AA miles on? Check into them as well. I use CO OnePass but I'll bet that at least 50% of my miles come from AS and/or NW flights.

Hey Snake Pliskin, welcome aboard.

I also lurked around before posting my first questions, there is a lot of help and good people around here, some on should be able to give you some input. I might suggest re-posting your question in the Mileage Run forum, as you might get more notice there...

Good Luck!

Thanks Rudi, Travelnick, & eastwest. I'm familiar with some of your postings, esp eastwest.
I'll follow your advice & see if I can bop this over to MileageRun.
I'm about to give up on aa.com. I keep getting "cannot price itinerary"...probably something I'm not doing correctly, but grrrrrrr.

Thanks for posting the link, eastwest. I'll take this opportunity to close this thread, so people will only respond in "Mileage Run".

Welcome to FT, Snake P. "Escape from NY", am I correct??
