Miles or money???
Quick question...
I can save approx 20 extra bucks using my 10% AA codes but will cost my girlfriend an extra 1000 bonus online booking miles by combining the tickets.
Is it worth it? I'm leaning towards the money, but 2 cents a mile is pretty solid, right?

1. It's 500 miles/ticket on deep discount fares, not 1,000 anymore.
2. If you buy 2 (or 3, or 10) tickets on one reservation, everybody gets the online booking bonus (if you give AA.com their AAdvantage number).
Other than that, you are 100% right.

There's never an easy answer.
Let's say you have 300,000 miles in your account; if that's the case, 1000 miles isn't a big deal.
But lets say you have 22,000 miles in your account, then that 1000 mile bonus is going to get you a little bit closer to that free ticket.
In answer to your question, 2 cents a mile is ok. But as we like to say around here, Your mileage may vary YMMV.

If I knew #2, #1 (and my math accompanying it becomes irrelevant) Guess that makes me and you both 50% right or wrong.
Thanks for the info, made things a lot easier...

Send her flowers and get even more miles.
I saw a cartoon where the FFer is giving his wife flowers, saying that 'the pleasure is all mine' or somesuch
But seriously, 2CPM is great, even for Junk Miles (non-status miles that you get from booking online, buying junk etc.) It adds up...

if y'all are on the same flights/itin and your discount code covers her if booked in same record, then she will get the o/l bonus as well as the discount....
if the discount code only applies to you, then book separately....if you want to try to ug and you have the status, aa can link the pnr's for that purpose, however, that may cause the loss of the ol bonus...good luck
