Does anyone know what one must do to "will" points and miles to an heir? Are there only certain programs that accept this?

I rember my family flying many, many award flights on my grandfathers miles after he passed away, no details though.

Without exeption, all the carriers operating in or to/from the USA have a method of leaving miles in your will. Unfortunately, these policies/rules are not standardized and you will have to follow the instructions of each one individualy.

The same is not true of American Express Membership Reward points nor of some Bank travel points where the Bank buys a paid ticket for you.

CO allows the executor/executrix to designate who the miles go to. When my dad died, a very courteous rep at OP advised me to forego the paperwork, and simply use dad's account # and pin code to issue tickets out of. We did just that, and it worked beautifully. When the balance got below 10K, I sent in the necessary paperwork to get the remaining miles transferred to my account.

I considered putting that info on my list of useful information for my heirs, but thought that a ticket for my ff miles can be issued only to me. Can I (or my heirs immitating me) use my ff miles to buy a ticket for someone else?

pgary, I do believe that anyone who calls saying that he/she is pgary and just happens to have his account number, address, zip code, mother's maiden name, phone number, Social Security number, blood type and any other information they might require, will most likely be able to extend pgary's life until all his miles and points are totally exhausted.

This would appear to be the most sure and efficient way of dealing with this prolem..........as long as your heirs don't happen upon this info when you are still alive and kicking, I mean flying.

Yes, of course they can. But can they buy a ticket with my miles for someone else than me?

Well, pgary, can you currently buy a ticket (using your miles) for anyone other than yourself? I know I can.
