Question Transfer at webflyer without ebay anything points?

Transfer at webflyer without ebay anything points?

Is there a way to do transfers without going through ebay anything points? That program has been discontinued so I can't sign up to make a transfer in. Basically I want to get my miles out of USAir and into something else that I acutally use like hilton, delta or american.

"My Miles Out of US Airways"?

Where might you consider going on Delta or American (as you say) that US Airways/America West/United could not take you?

While American has a good redemption record, US Airways isn't all that far back unless there is something in particular you are wanting.

Hilton...... as they say, forget about it. You could get there, but your sacrifice would be deadly.

What I'm trying to do is get my points/miles out of programs that I rarely use. My husband and I are taking a trip to London/Paris next year or late this year and we are trying to get as many points/miles as possible so we can 'afford' to stay at nicer hotels and possibly fly J. Now we have very few miles in our programs since we don't travel much I do try to get miles other ways. Using airline credit card, idine, and going through various shopping portals we've each got about 50,000 AA miles and close to 50,000 in hilton as well. We know we won't be able to get enough miles/points to get the whole trip with rewards, but we would like to get at least part of.

The other option that should show up on the webflyer calculator is via points.com, which is generally an abysmal choice, but it's often the best option out there.

Right now, it looks like the best transfer option for US miles would be to transfer them first to HA, then transfer them again to AA. 10,000 US miles, however, would transfer to a mere 750 AA miles.

Actually a few ideas come to mind - would you mind letting us know how many US Airways miles we're talking about here? It helps figure out any advice. Thanks.

I think one thing you could do with 10,000 miles in an orphan account is to sign up for an affinity credit card associated with the airline. Usually you can get at least 15,000 bonus miles for signing up and making one purchase using the card, and the card is usually fee-free for the first year. The only downside might be if your credit rating is shaky and you don't want to add the (reportedly nominal) burden of a new credit card to it.

That would give you enough miles for a domestic capacity controlled award flight, and you could cancel the card before any annual fees kick in.

In the OP's specific situation, if you want to apply the miles toward your London/Paris trip, you could trade the 25,000 mile award (but probably not 10,000 miles) for a hotel award on Coupon Connection.

Oops, just noted the OP probably doesn't have Coupon Connection access.

For the OP's information: Coupon Connection is a forum on flyertalk that allows people to trade (but not sell) various travel-related awards and coupons. But to maintain a proper focus on flyertalk, it is not available to you until you have a minimum number of posts and time on flyertalk. I'm not sure if the actual minima are published, or even what they are, precisely, but I think you probably have the required time and have some ways yet (but not TOO far) to go on the posts.

This is touched on. I am a strong proponent for moving up - not down - with orphan miles. Even if possible, your 10,000+ miles would equal no more than 1-2 thousand miles elsewhere, hardly anything of value that might help your cause. Currently because of an upcoming change in the credit card partners for America West/US Airways, you can get a new Dividend Miles card from Jupiter/Barclays' bank with a 15,000-mile bonus after a first purchase. The wonderful aspect of this idea is that the card is free from any annual fee for the first two years. That 15K plus what you have is a free ticket anywhere in the US on America West/US Airways or United and while that will not likely help you with your current goals, it costs you literally nothing and it's a heck of a lot more valuable to you than 1-2 thousand of DL or AA miles.

As for the AAdvantage program. you might consider applying for an extra AAdvantage card. Through the end of this month (maybe longer) you could get the Business AAdvantage credit card which comes with a 20,000-mile signup bonus. That gets you to 70K with AAdvantage which puts you within only 10,000 miles for two coach class tickets off-peak to Europe. That should be easy to earn. (the first year for this business AA card is free of an annual fee which means i have now gotten you 35,000 total frequent flyer miles and you haven't paid a dime).

As you note, you don't travel a lot and most of your miles and points are earned from partners. It would be a lot longer to earn enough miles for two business class tickets to Europe but there is always that goal in mind. Two of my last three trips to Europe were in Coach and it's not that big a deal since the real reward is the time spent on the other side. After years of thinking i liked London more because of the friendlier language, I now consider Paris more to my liking. So these are things to consider and hope they are of a little help.

While it doesn't help you with your specific request (transferring miles), you can get additional miles with the new Citi Amex AA card. It has a sign up bonus of 15,000 miles. I assume you already have the Citi AAvantage Mastercard.

My wife & I both signed up for the AA MC and both got the points - and we're planning to do the same with the Amex.

As Randy said, it may be worthwhile as a longer term thing to try to bump your 10,000 orphan miles up to an award level and try to use them. Transfer of miles will never work in your favor.
