Miles for Opening a Online Savings?

Does anyone know if you can get Miles or points for opening a medium-large Online Savings Account? Any suggestions. I would be delighted to get some benefit from the new account! Let me know any suggestions

Hi! Welcome to Flyertalk.

I think there is some more info in SPAM, but I'll give you what I know here. There are two banks that I know of, BankDirect and Guaranty Bank, that both give you miles for deposits. The rate of accumulation is the same. You earn 1 mile for every $10 per month. In other words, if you put $10,000 into the account, you would earn 1,000 miles per month. I have an account with BankDirect and we have been very happy with them. The downside is that the interest rate is quite low.

If you PM me, I would be happy to refer you. I think that we both get bonus miles that way!

I guess I had a HSBC Savings or ING direct style thing in Mind since they have higher APRs. Anything like that?

Typically, miles are given in lieu of interest, so it's highly unlikely that you're going to find an account that will give you both a high interest rate and miles, since it's kind of like having your cake and eating it too.

Miles for Banking

Welcome to FT! You are shooting a question that has been "hot" in FT community for years!

New Netbank costomers can earn up to 9K UAL miles.

Or you may read on more from the thread, Miles for Banking.

There are quite a few bank accounts that might interest you. Take a look at the Banking section of the Finance page of my website below for most of them.

There is also a quick comparison table on my site (in the Credit Cards & Banking section).

You can get 3,500 Delta Miles by opening an account at Netbank, Actually 2 x 3,500 by opening a checking AND a Money Market Account.
At least I got it .. hope it's still true.
