Doin' the bump
With the higher load factors, I'm probably not the only one seeing this, but the first flight on Monday morning from MCI-CLE has been overbooked the last two weeks. The last flight CLE-MCI on Thursday nights has also been overbooked. They've been offering anything from $200 - $300 to take alternate routings; last Thursday I took CO/CLE-STL-TW/STL-MCI for $250 and still made it home on Thursday night.
Just a heads up for anyone looking for vouchers.

On USAirways this weekend, flying in and out of RDU, my wife and I received a grand total of 7 roundtrip vouchers between us. I guess when they downsized, they never noticed that Midway went out of business
Now we just have to use them within a year and while USAirways is still in business.

Flying from IND - ORD on UA this weekend we volunteered and received $400 each, and were still able to catch our original connection from ORD-SAN. I guess it made it worth it that United had changed our original ORD layover from 1hr - 3hrs.

Did UA cancel an IND-ORD flight in advance?? That would explain why your flight went out overbooked. I was rebooked on the Sunday after Thanksgiving: I was booked on the 7pm HP MSP--PHX which was cancelled, and rebooked onto the 4:30pm HP MSP--PHX, now the latest HP flight from MSP that night. I'm banking on the flight being waaay overbooked. :-D

I bump ALL the time ...
Have reaped the rewards of almost $3000 this year from United.
Most recently last weekend on first mileage from from PDX-BUF (PDX/SFO/IAD/BUF/IAD/DEN/PDX)
Bumped twice on way home, rerouting through Denver, and then bumped first flight in Denver. Only $200 apiece, but paid for this afare with vouchers ($148 to buffalo).
Like being paid to fly !!!

I paid $47 (including taxes) on priceline for LAX-PHX on UA Shuttle. Travel was late April. Was going back to LAX from PHX. Didn't get the miles
(pre FT days). UA offered $600 + overnite at Phoenix Hilton for taking flight next morning. Volunteered in a flash! Worked afternoon shift at the time so it worked out well! Ended up buying 4 tickets with the vouchers and getting lots of miles!(vouchers come in a book of 4--each was $150). One of my better bump deals!
