Tickets and Schedule Changes

Those of you who fly with only carry-on luggage, what difficulties have you encountered getting through security and then checking in at the gate with either a paper ticket or an e-ticket when there has been a schedule change for your flight, particularly when the flight number has been changed as well as the time? Since the time I booked two different trips for my daughter, one trip has a changed flight time and the other has changed the flight number as well as the time. I'm told by AA that to check in at the gate the paper ticket or e-ticket have to show the correct time. However, I wonder, because another agent said it was not a problem. What has been your experience? Schedule changes are a common occurence now and it's difficult to keep the paper work up to date. Surely, the computers at the gate must have the correct information for that passenger. I would think that as long as the ticket has the name, date, locator code, and ticket number, the passenger would be able to check in at the gate regardless of schedule changes. Or am I being too optimistic and giving them too much credit.

Also, if you think I'm posting this in the wrong forum, please tell me which one you think would get a better response. Thank you.

Shouldn't be a problem.

On all my United flights I have just called customer service to request a new e- ticket itinerary and they have faxed one over. Kept me from having to worry about it.

If you are talking about getting through the security line, you will have no problem. There is no way they know what flight is running when. They just want to see something that shows a flight today, or at least in next few hours, if they even look at that.

Almost all airlines (all major ones for sure) can issue new tickets at the gate, and if you have an e-ticket, you are all set anyways. One of the good things about an e-ticket is that you could in theory lose it between security and the gate and get a new one at the gate.

All this assumes the airport you going through accepts the e-ticket receipt at security, which most do most of the time. These people can change and make up new rules just about whenever they want.

DO NOT TRY TO USE LOGIC ON ANY OF THIS.
