Travel question to S. America?

I have got passports to go from U.S. to Venezuela for my family in one week, but do I need a visa?

I am just going to Margarita Island for 7 days vacation.

Please help me out.

Thanks in advance.

It depends on how you will be arriving in Venezuela. Check this link for the scoop:

Visited Venezuela in 1983, 1988 and 1990 and did not need a visa.

No visa was required in April, 2001 when I visited Venezuela. (I am a U.S. citizen).

If you have a US passport and you are entering by plane, you don't need a Tourist Visa to enter Venezuela. A Tourist Card will be issued by the airlines which allows you to stay in Venezuela for a non-renewable 90 day period.

For more information:
http://www.consuladovenezuelasfo.org/tourist_card.htm

There is a departure tax that you need to pay before leaving Venezuela (I think it was $19). In addition, there is also a small tax that you need to pay when leaving Margarita (about $2).

Margarita is a beautiful island. Enjoy!

Sure. Write me to the address in my profile (but I won't be able to answer until Tuesday).

Went to Venezuela and Margarita Island about six years ago. My passport was all I needed.

To get visa and lots of other information on any country in the world from the U.S. State Department, go to http://travel.state.gov/travel_warnings.html
