Pooling Miles

I am an unsophisticated mileage plan user. My sons' school is having fundraiser auction and I am in charge of working on putting together the package for a week in a condo in Kaui. To increase the value of the package we would like to add airfare. The condo is offered for at a holiday time.

Is there a way to arrange/buy airfare without having the purchaser of the package involved? It seemed to me than rather than buying tickets, donations of air miles from families in the school could be done. However, I am thinking the chance of using air miles over a holiday week is slim.

Can miles be gifted? How do air miles from multiple people get pooled so the airline will accept them? Where we live, the airlines in our area are United, Alaska, and Delta. Any experience about which would be the most helpful in our "cause?"

I suggest asking each of the respective airlines in your market for a donation to the event.

As for getting an award during busy holiday periods, it is not impossible; but I wouldn't hold my breath.

As for pooling, I am not sure if it is allowed. I'd check each respective programs in their respective forums below.

I will hazard a guess that no program will allow the pooling of miles.

You may be able to find someone in your community who would be willing to donate the miles, but availability during the holidays is going to be tight.

I think the easiest way would be to get a price for the ticket, and then have people donate the $$ to buy it.

I think this is more appropriate for MileBuzz - I am moving.
