Frequent "Driver" Miles

Some hotels are now reportedly offering Frequent "Driver" Miles to patrons based upon how far away you have come to stay there! Any details anyone?

I am curious what do you do for a living, I enjoy your posts, but 23,000 posts would make this a full time job wouldn't it? I have about 300 post, which keeps me busy. I can honestly say my 10 million+ miles are from getting great tips from people like yourself.

The following site has VERY FEW properties listed, but they offer a sort of reimbursement, for staying at their property, in cash-back or credit but not in miles.

http://www.frequentdrivermiles.com/

Here is a quoted excerpt from their site:
------------------------------------------
Here is what most [hotel properties] are doing:

Reimbursing you for a gas receipt dated the day you arrive (They buy your gas)

Offering a set mileage credit from your location as a credit to your bill

Some hotels are offering you the option of exciting upgrades as well. For instance, one member property will offer you 150% of your gas mileage credit towards a meal in their award winning dining room! Another pays for your return trip for a two-night stay. Reasonable limits apply and there are blackouts for periods of high demand.

Finally

Thanks for being part of an excellent cause. These hotels have not asked for, nor do they expect, a Federal bailout. They are willing to earn your dollars, provide friendly service, and contribute to our society. Now, thats American!

Oh, darn!! I will be flying to Atlanta to collect my stuff in storage there and then driving back up to Chicago with a rental truck(home now). And will stay in a hotel in Atlanta, but won't be getting the driving benefit then. Hmmm, maybe I should stay in a hotel when I get back to Chicago then instead of at home, LOL?? Or maybe I should just drive to Atlanta then. How weird my family would think I was then!!

Doc, you have 23890 posts since May 99. that's 880 days. 23890/880= 27 posts a day.
(made a math mistake earlier, my apology to Doc)
anyone else with a higher post per day? I want to know.

Doc, I do enjoy your post, btw.

frequentdrivermiles is a site that was intended to help the independent hotel get noticed during these tough times. We only have a few hotels, just over 30, but plan to add more than 100 the next week, now that the exclusive article with the WSJ came out on Friday. Lots of little guys are getting hurt since Sept. 11th and they don't have mileage programs and the scale that the big boys have, so the idea of reimbursing for driving gives them a little something to offer. Some of the awards they have come up with have been remarkable, and a lot of moeny will undoubtedly go to charity. Not pitching the site, but the idea is that the washout has affected a lot more hotels than just NYC, Dallas, Orlando and Vegas.

Sounds like a nice idea to me - but the name is misleading.

C'mon, Doc - give us something here...

According to my math, you have almost 8% OF ALL POSTS on FT! That's not hobby, it's almost a career.
