Question about getting NWA FFMs on Delta

Hey guys and gals, I have a quick question. I'm booking a ticket from BNA to SVO and I want to do it through Delta.com. I don't have a Delta FF membership, but I am a WorldPerks member. So, I know that I can book the ticket on line and then call Delta and they'll credit my NWA account with the miles. But will I still get the 1,000 bonus miles that Delta gives for booking on line or am I losing the opportunity to do that?

Someone out there feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but i believe that if you enter your WP No., you are not going to get 1000 bonus miles from Delta. Delta can only give out skymiles I believe.

Generally you'll only get the online booking bonus if you use the frequent flyer program of the site where you are booking. You will have to register for and use a Delta Frequent Flyer number if you want the Delta online booking bonus.

Many of the the alliance members sites don't even recognize elite status within the alliances from other member airlines. Skyteam seems to be among the worst in that regard.

Freq DL and NW Flyer

Sign up for a Delta number. It is still free. Or is it $5 nowadays like a DL international drink? I find it is always better to use an airlines own number when buying an online tic. Plus it gives you a way to go to the airlines own site later and log in to your itinerary and do things like seat selections and changes.

OTOH, unless they changed it in the last month, Deltas web site has one big sucking point. It will not allow you to enter any FF number but your Delta number in the "give credit to" box. Anyone from Delta reading this? Yo, Delta, this stinks.

On Delta, this means no online check in. I have to go to the counter to check in, even when I have no bags to check, and check in with a live person and insist they manually change my FF number to credit my NW account. (You need to watch the DL clerks to make sure they do it right. My NW card has a KLM logo on it too, and last time she was trying to enter it as a KL number and kept getting an error message. Duh.) I have never dared trying calling two days before and changing to the NW number, then trying to OLCI using a DL log in. I am afraid Murphy's Law would show up here.

Although as soon as soon as they correctly enter the NW number, I have never had a problem, as it prints "Skyteam Elite" all over my DL boarding card.
