blackout date confusion
Does anyone know of a good web site that provides info on blackout dates for frequent flier miles? I'm looking to take a vacation in January- probably to somewhere in South America. I'm pretty flexible on dates of travel, location, and time. I have miles on Delta, Northwest, and US Air. I've been looking around at delta.com, but it hasn't been very user friendly.

Most, if not all, of the US carriers have eliminated "black-out dates" for redemption of miles.
That being said, actually being able to find dates you can use your miles are another story. All airlines have capacity controls that limit the available seats for redemption of miles. Your best bet is to check with each airline for availability, or use a pay service like awardplanner.com.
