FT Community- Please Donate Miles

Having more miles than money right now, I have found a great way to give back what the airlines have given us. Please find links for donations for various FF programs.
Miles don't have to be donated as awards and odd lots are accepted (see example below). So if you donate oprhan miles from accounts you don't use or if say 50 people donate 1000 miles each in UA's program, this would be 2 domestic r/ts for the those who need it.

Please feel free to add any links for other participating airlines and their donation programs. Thanks!

I'll give 100,000 Alaska miles, 100,000 Air Canada miles, and 20,000 United miles. Please tell me where and how.

Great idea, worldbanker.

Here is the url to donate your United miles:
http://www.ual.com/site/primary/0,10017,1363,00.html

I don't have hundreds of thousands of miles socked away, but I am donating 25,000 (enough for a saver award for someone).

Alaska Air has a program for Charity miles, but I can't find it on the website right now.

You can call the Mileage Plan Office at 1-800-654-5669 for further information

Thanks to SAN Man and others for helping out.
Let's push this post back to the top so others learn about the donation programs.

Thanks worldbanker for starting this thread. Here's an updated list of the various airline-, hotel-, and charge/credit-card-sponsored charity programs that you can donate your miles and frequent stay points to. In most cases, you can just call the customer service line of the frequent flyer/guest program but hyperlinks are provided where possible.

This post includes the following airlines:
Alaska, America West, American, Continental, Delta, Midwest Express, Northwest, Southwest, United, and US Airways.

This post includes the following hotel programs:
Priority Club Worldwide and Starwood Preferred Guest. (I don't subscribe to every hotel program's e-mail newsletter so there are probably others that I am missing.)

Finally, Diners Club cardholders can redeem Club Reward Points for cash donations to five different charities at a rate of 5,000 points for a $30 donation.

AIRLINES
Alaska Air Charity Miles
Charities: Make-A-Wish Foundation, AirLifeLine, The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, The Alaska Children's Trust.

American Airlines Miles for Kids in Need
Charities: A Wish With Wings, Hearts in Motion, Make-A-Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society, Starlight Foundation, Variety Clubs International (these are some of the charities American works with but it is not possible to designate a specific charity).
Call American at 1-800-882-8880 or you can do it online by following the instructions that worldbanker provided above. Mininum donation of 5,000 miles.

Until September 30, 2001, American is matching donations at a rate of one mile for every three donated.

America West Miles of Hope
Charities: American Red Cross, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Angel Flight, National Runaway Switchboard.

Continental Airlines
Charities: AmeriCares, The Brass Ring Society, Healing The Children, Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Minimum donation is 500 miles.

Delta Airlines Skywish Program
Charities: CARE, Make-A-Wish Foundation, The United Way of America, The United Way International.
The minimum donation is 5,000 miles and may be made via e-mail at [email protected], by telephone at 800-325-3999, via fax at 404-773-1945, or at any Crown Room Club location.

Midewest Express Miracle Miles Program
Various charities (mainly local Midwest chapters of national organizations)
Midwest Express will match 1 mile for every 3 donated above 5,000 miles

Northwest Airlines AirCares Program (page 24 of Member Guide)
Members may also donate their miles to the American Red Cross by calling Northwest at 800-327-2881.
Minimum donation is 5,000 miles.

Southwest Airlines Give Your Heart Wings Program
This link has a directory of local Southwest Airlines marketing offices that will assist you in donating award tickets to charities in your local community.

United Airlines Charity Miles
Charities: AIDS Project Los Angeles, American Red Cross, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Salvation Army, Special Olympics, Transplant Recipients International Organization.
Minimum donation is 10,000 miles.

US Airways Dividend Miles Charity Program

Minimum donation of 5,000 miles.

HOTELS
Holiday Inn Priority Club Worldwide's Road to Recovery Program
Until December 31, 2001, members may donate their Priority Club points to the American Red Cross, through the new "Road to Recovery" program. Donations may be made in increments of 2,500 points (the equivalent of $10 in cash). Priority Club will then match each donation made. Thanks fallinasleep! Very good info and it seems you covered almost every major program. Maybe you should consider changing your name to "wideawake".

Reminds me of a tshirt I saw this weekend, "Wake me up when things get interesting."
Not interesting enough already?!?!
