Does PNR include fare basis?

Not sure if this is the correct place for this question.

I have paper tickets from a travel agent (don't yet have the tickets).

I am not sure if these tickets will earn miles--no idea what fare code they are, but they might earn miles.

Two questions:
Will the paper ticket include a notation of the fare basis?

Does PNR include fare basis?

I know if I have the fare basis I can figure out what miles, if any, and what type of miles, might be earned.

Paper ticket will almost certainly contain the fare basis; not sure about PNR though.

The PNR = [Passenger Name Record] = [entry in the computer's database corresponding to your ticket] will surely contain the fare basis. The Record Locator, the 6- or 7-character sequence used to identify your PNR (and often itself refered to as the PNR) eg. T1Z4FQ will not itself contain the fare basis code.

you can call the airline with the record locator or your originating [or other leg] flight info and they can tell you the fare basis [at least on aa]....

It usually shows up on the boarding pass once they are printed (under class) but this may be to late if you plan on changing the fare based on mile earning potential.

Best bet is to call the airline and ask, they will definitely be able to look it up.

This really doesn't have much to do with the latest frequent flyer program buzz, and has been answered, so I'm going to close it here.
