The value of your airline miles...today

We're always so caught up in discussion of the value of a mile.
2 cents a mile, 4 cents a mile.

Boy, do we sound like 9th graders or what?

The value of my miles, just like the value of my stock portfolio has dropped considerably.

So the way I figure it, my UA miles aren't worth a dam.

Why do you say that? Are you not going to fly anymore? Personally I can't wait to fly again, I won't to change my life because of some terrorist and live in fear. I want to help the economy.

OK I admit as a mileage runner and cheap fare seeker I help the economy as little as I can...

I still value my miles at a conservative 1 cent a mile, unless fares radically drop. If anything I think they will go up because the airlines will be hurting so badly and security costs will skyrocket.

I do no feel really comfortable to discuss that matter this week.
Will it not be more appropriate to wait till next week. There is nothing urgent.
Inbetween, your miles will increase their value, a lot of people will take care or their beloved who disappeared, and everybody will be ready for discussion

I do not thiink your miles are worth any less than they were last week. Unless your making the argument that these terrorists have won and there won't be any more air travel.

In that case I'll give you a brand new crisp $100 bill for the lot of them. Our way of doing business in America was shaken up. Lives were lost, but these thugs have not won unless we let them. And your thinking allows them to win.

Life will go on. And if they do as you are suggesting, then we'll all be safe I guess until they start hijacking the railroad cars we'll be on again.

and the offer to buy out your miles stands.

The bidding is up to $125.

Seriously, though. I'm not about to let these f--kers run my life.
