If you want lower thresholds, you could always try to get comped at another carrier.
I did just that for an upcoming trip on Continental.

I have top and midlevel status on two major carriers out of Ohare. Lower thresholds at other carriers give me more more options and usually better service,they appreciate my business, not to mention smaller security lines and sr. agents who actually can use the computer system and not have to call a supervisor.
