...actually I have given this a try.
while a decent program, I am looking for something it does not really do for me:

i dont want a program that automates or remembers my passwords, etc, on my work or home pc, but rather, I seek something that merely stores them in an easy to access spot online so that if I were to say, need to know my bank passwords and account numbers for my mortgage, which I may not normally have to do anything with except to just pay the bill, I can easily go on a site that I am a member of and grab that info the way I like to see it.

Similarly, if I happen to need the FF number of my wife's hardly ever used Singapore Airlines account, I can do the same thing from a far.

Say I am in some email cafe in Australia or something...

I need to store with ease, any or all of the data in the fashion one might create their own excell sheet--but without me having to both do that, and also upload and download it from say, my yahoo account all the time when on the road.

This norton thing seems to be better for people who tend to want to just forget their account info and let everything be automated and fill in on its own. Once corporate mucks with our systems and does some unforseen upgrade or something, suddenly I would surely have to change settings and would have forgotten many things in the process.

Dont want that.

Other ideas?

Sure -- here's one I use all the time, and it's free! (Knew that'd get your attention )

Make up a list of all your accounts and their passwords.
E-mail it to yourself.

Available anywhere you have email access

If you're paranoid about someone hacking your email account, do a little encrypting -- add 2 to every third digit or something.

Suggestions which I use with certain variations. I store much of the info with an encrypted pen drive that is with me often and that is generally synced with my online email accounts having a file in RTF and PDF form of that RTF file.

Well, ...? IIRC, RTF and PDF are not PDQ, ASAP, correct? Or whatever.

I am a newbie to this forum and I am clueless. I don't know where to begin to teach myself. It all seems so overwhelming! Could you veterans give me a hint on where would be the best place to start reading?

While, I wouldn't exactly call myself a veteran of FT, I have learned a lot in the 4 months I've been on here. I remember how overwhelming it all can be. Depending on what you want to accomplish, you'll want to look at different forums, so give the site a quick browse, just to see the various types of forums out there. After that, I recommend you read the stickies for the areas you're interested in. Because it's that important, I'll say it again. Read the stickies. They really helped me a lot. After that, just try and keep up with reading the forums that are of interest to you. After a few weeks, most of the major stuff in that particular FF/Hotel/Credit card program will likely have been discussed in the threads to some extent. You'll be surprised how quickly you catch on. Welcome to FT!

not worried about security so much, just convenience. The prob with yahoo mail, etc is that if you have an email and you wanna do more to it (such as add in or alter some password or other info you saved in an email you wrote to self), it gives you the >>> things and you have to work on the formatting again and again. The text wraps, the links break, etc. Good idea, but I need a place... a resident file of sorts...

Now, I can FTP something like some Excel spreadsheet to my own web site or something but have been considering shutting down these and thereby saving money on keeping them going.

will consider more stuff. And next year, I can once again say:

Type up your password list (in an encrypted format) in Notepad, and save it as a txt file. Then email it to yourself as an attachment. Bingo!

ahh, that could work as well... BUT I have also found (hate to keep finding 'em) that notepad text attachments often BECOME part of the text of an email in Yahoo... I mean, it sucks it into the email copy itself and does NOT stay being a sep attached file as would some other program, ya know what I mean? If it were WORD or something, that would work, but not Notepad. And again, the problem is that when you travel, you often times have no access to programs, the same versions, the desk top, attaching and reattaching things, etc. A web site may work but I have yet to find one except those that simply fill IN passwords you load into them. But not my idea. Sad. I guess I could invent it!
