FF miles for Red Cross/ Katrina relief!
AFAIK, AA & UA are each offering 500 miles for a donation of >= $50 USD. Are any other loyalty programs doing so?
UA also offers a choice of 3 charities: Red Cross, Americares, & one other.
AA link: https://www.redcross.org/donate/MMRedir.ASP?CID=HUR-AA
Or donate your NonePass miles to several charities:

There are a bunch of offers - either ongoing or specially launched. Summary with links located at:

Most allow you to donate your miles / points to charity, while a couple provide an incentive for making cash donations.

Much better 2 donate cash or call your local Red Cross chapter to ask if they would like a donation of a cert. for a room award--perhaps to put someone up, whose house has burned down, in a Hampton Inn!

Lowes is matching donations dollar for dollar to the Red Cross made at their stores up to the first million.
There are times there are better deals then the miles.
I know, saying that here can get me killed, but 500 miles, for me, or double money helping somebody.

New offer from Quizpoints - you can donate points to the Red Cross Relief effort. Each point is worth 4 cents for this and they let you donate any amount (even 1 point). If you aren't a member you can join, get the 50 free points, then convert them to a $2 donation - you can get more points for free offers etc.
See http://www.andrewcram.com/hurricane_katrina.html for info.

For those who didn't get the email, United's offer just requires you to fax in the receipt, not to donate through some special web page or phone number.
If you already donated you can fax your receipt in, with your MP number, to 1-866-583-5943. (I'm assuming they won't reject mine because the receipt is 2 days before their offer - that would be really lame).
And I agree that not being one of the first 2000 and missing the points shouldn''t stop you from donating.

It is more efficient to give just money than to give money and get some miles as a reward.
I saw that Continental is donating 1M none-pass miles to the Red Cross and other agencies. Nice gesture but let them try and see if they can redeem an award!
