How does Points.com really work?

I just opened an account with points.com and trying to exchange miles from DL,UA ect to my AA miles. First I noticed that my AA account in POints.com is of a big fat zero where the other programs have miles (i might have to check on these miles too). wondering if this service is reliable and has anyone successfully used this?

I had that problem as well, I ended up removing AA, but when I tried adding it again it said the # was already in the system. (apparently delete doesn't really delete your info... :/ ) I've called/emailed/chatted with their customer service people three times now and they can't seem to remove/readd AA; now I've missed out on the conversion from Alaska since they upped the minimum
