Transferring miles between Airlines
Hi all,
Sorry if this is a repost. I tried searching for ways to transfer miles between airlines but didn't find anything. I would greatly appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

for some reason, converting my 30k miles on United into Delta Miles (I end up with 15k miles) doesn't seem a good idea...

Depends on how many miles you would need, it may be worthwhile to 1) cash in for a domestic award ticket (25k), 2) apply for mileage plus visa for 20k with annual fee waived for the 1st yr (which would give you 50k total), 3) get more miles by flying, or 4) participate in promotions with partners (such as the iDine one right now) to get to your target mileage.

It is almost never a good transfer rate. Makes sense... why would Delta want to give you a 100% transfer rate?
That is why it is usually better to get to whatever award level you want... and then stop earning in that program.
