There was a thread about this a while ago, also a trip report about flying with the Thai Royal Family. Unfortunately, I don't have time to search for those threads now.

My only near-celebrity encounter was last year when the check-in agent at the RCC told me I'd be sitting in F with Carlos Santana and his entourage (an invasion of privacy for Mr Santana for her to tell me that, though). Unfortunately, that flight was canceled before boarding, and Mr Santana was rebooked on one flight, and I on another.

Monica Lewinsky was on a flight from NY to LA a couple of years ago. I sort of felt sorry for her, everyone was talking about her and she was all alone. No entourage like Clinton! She stood at the curb after getting her bag, and waited for someone to pick her up. She wore a cap, and kept pulling it down, but it was definitely her!

Terry Bradshaw
First Class to Hawaii, about 3 feet away from me for 9 hours.
He pretty much read his Bible the entire flight using a highlighter, it was very cool!

I just sat next to Anthony Stewart Head alial Giles from Buffy on Virgin upper class LHR-LAX

I didn't know who he was, but people kept on coming up to him and asking for autographs, so I asked him what he does for a living....

I sat behind Jesse Jackson on a flight to Chicago about two years ago. He sat in coach, wore a baseball cap and sweat suit, and I didn't recognize him until near the end of the flight because he pretty much looked and acted like the rest of us ordinary schlubs at the end of a long day.

Anyway, he was walking in front of me as we exited the plane, and as he walked through the terminal a highly-excited boy about 14 years old recognized Jesse Jackson, ran up to him, tugged on his sleeve, and said something to him. Jackson stopped, and apparently exchanged a few kind and encouraging words with the boy, because he ran back to his mother all breathless and excited as Jackson walked away.

And I thought, at times like that, it must be GREAT to be Jesse Jackson.

I've had a few celebrity seatmates/flightmates:

NFL Hall of Famer Marcus Allen flying STL-LAX in F on TW (I had to ask the flight attendant who he was, since I gathered he was someone famous but didn't recognize him)

St. Louis Rams Offensive Lineman Orlando Pace on two flights STL-CLE in F on TW (Once he borrowed the sports section of my paper.. I thought about asking for an autograph, but considering the Rams lost big the day before, I thought better of it!)

Roger Ebert on AA LGA-ORD (he was in F, I was in Y)

Sen. Paul Simon on TW STL-ORD (I was in F, he was in Y!)

The Frugal Gourmet Jeff Smith on TW STL-SEA (He was in F, I was in Y)

The best story I heard about celebrity sighting was Christina Aguillera on a TWA flight... during the music video showing prior to take off, one of her videos came on. She apparently went into the lavatory and didn't come out until it was over!

Diane Sawyer - SFO/IAD on UA in F. We had a very interesting conversation about biotechnology. She was very friendly and quite knowledgeable. I was impressed.

TV Judge Mills Lane on America West flight from Austin, TX to Phoenix. My wife sat next to him in FC. She stated that he was a bit rude and somewhat arrogant. Oh well...
