"Be My Guest" - triple SkyMiles

This came with July's Delta SkyMiles Card:
Earn Triple SkyMiles now through September 30 when you use your Delta SkyMiles Card to purchase Be My Guest Cards from American Express.
http://amex.etoll.net/amexbemyguest/

The small print says:
" The $5.95 fee per card includes all personalization, order processing, shipping, and 24 hour toll free Customer Service."

Since this card looks like regular AMEX (15 digits, etc), one should be able to go to
http://www.idine.com and register it here for 10 Miles/$ or $$off - just as a regular CC.

The highest denomination is $300, so the cost per mile is 0.66.
One can also "reload" the card for $2.95, but I'm not sure if it will qualify for triple miles. It looks like they will offer volume discounts, at least they mention 25 or 45 cards.

P.S.
This post belongs here, but it belongs as well to Dining Buzz, Delta and Amex forums.
I'll post it there too, but life on FlyerTalk becomes terrible complicated!

These cards are a bit of a pain to use, IMHO. Since they are for a finite amount, you can't spend a dollar more then is on the card. This leaves you with an odd amound, like $5 or $10 left on the card, at which point you have to reload it, or explain to the waiter how you want $5.00 charged to this card and the rest charged to this card... In the end I usually end up just forgetting about the $5.00 left on the card because its not worth the hassle, but it effectively doubles the original cost per mile when you do that.

Yes, you can register the card w/ any of the iDine-associated airline dining programs (& get miles)--but I would recommend registering the card over the phone--I have no idea if, let alone how much, of a delay there is if registering a credit card w/ them online, etc. I have found that things are in place within ~24 hours of registering a card w/ them over the phone (a conversation during which you can designate which airline dining program the card is to be associated w/--& then you can call right back, to confirm [w/ another rep, likely (& preferably)] that the correct airline FF program [& account#] is associated w/ the name & card in question [they have a field in which the airline FF program is designated--I've encountered a mistake w/ such before [re: incorrect data entry], however, & will now be sure to call them back for any new registrations, to confirm that the card is associated w/ the correct FF account).

Initially, I was intrigued by the offer as well. However, that $5.95 fee per card really took the interest out of earning the "triple" miles. If you were to buy a $25 card, you'd still have to pay that fee. Clearly, no savings or mileage benefit at all.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it.
