Austin - Anchorage $370 RT
Hello!
Delta is offering AUS - ANC RT for $369.50 at the Travelocity website. It seems to require travel on Mondays thru Thursdays. The previous lowest fare was $528.
With the continuing hot weather here in Texas, it sure is tempting!

You may want to stay put, Middle_Seat.
I don't remember what Anchorage was like, but the temperature in Fairbanks was around 100 in July. This was at night (not that there really is a night in the summer...)

fairbanks and anchorage aren't much alike weatherwise except cold in winter (and anchorage is nowhere near as cold as fairbanks). The record high temp for anchorage for any day is 85. The average high in july is 65 average low 51. Anchorage is usually a pretty nice summer. Fairbanks does get quite a bit warmer in the summer but the average high for july is still only 72 with the average low being 56. The record high for any date is 96 and I can guarantee you that it wasn't anywhere
near that temp at 1am. I think I can also reasonably guarantee you that it will be more pleasant anywhere in Alaska in July than in Austin (that is if my trips to Austin are representative). With the relative heat in Fairbanks and the bugs, its not my favorite place to be in the summer or in the winter (-40 to -60 for weeks ain't my cup of tea).
btw 369.50 seems like a pretty good fare to me.
