OW booked in *Alliance - what to do?

I was all ready to complete my AA Platinum Challenge on upcoming international travel and corporate travel booked me on SAS!

My only *Alliance participation is 6000 orphaned miles with US Airways and 0 with United. I am AA Gold.

Do I understand correctly that if US Airways and United match AA Gold status, that US Airways will provide 50% mileage bonus whereas United only provides a 25% mileage bonus on * Alliance partner flights (ie, SAS)?

If so, I will see if USAirways will match and maybe get enough miles via SAS for an award ticket from USAirways. That is, unless there is a way to get/move the miles into OW?

Thanks.

QF is a partner of SAS but I am not suggesting you fragment your mileage there either (if you fly a lot then it could be worth QF Gold =OW sapphire status just for the lounge access in north america).

Where are you flying on SAS/*A and in what class?

Thanks Kiwi Flyer

Appreciate the suggestion.
My upcoming travel is DFW-ORD-ARN-ORD-DFW all in coach.
I travel this route only just frequent enough to get/stay elite on one airline/alliance.

So only ORD-ARN-ORD is on SAS, and its coach (economy)?

Do you know what fare class it is? If its cheaper economy classes then probably best to stick with a US-based program (ie UA or US) since SAS (SK) earning is less in cheaper classes.

May be best to stick with US-based program regardless, as there would be more non-flying partner earning opportunities for you.
