Signs of Y2K on Flyer Talk
You know when you come to this site how the pink folders are ones that have new postings? Well, today, all of the folders are pink! And there were not new postings either, except for the ones for today, Jan 1. Could this be a sign?

It says everyone's profile only lasts for a year (maybe they mean until year end) then it has to be renewed -- we might have to re-register under another name? I'll never catch up to Rudi's record breaking 1000+ posts now!

I had to work New Year's Day this year...being quite bored I spent some time on the web. From both home and my office I was unable to get on to the Flyertalj board from about 4am to 5pm eastern time. I would receive a message saying that there was an "internal server error". I'm suprised they fixed it over the weekend at all......

My guess is that all our cookies expired... so FT doesn't realise that we've visited before. The good thing is that (if you've set your browser up to accept the cookie), after you visit FT once in the New Year, it all goes back to normal. They may have had some hiccoughs with this yesterday...

Bab's: What the hell are you talking about? Cookies. Talk in a language we understand.
I think you are just showing off again.
But I think you are great anyway!

This site has not functioned correctly since Christmas day. My browser locks up repeatedly and it's not my computer (no problems accessing anything else). What is going on?

Cookies: 'nibble-sized' bits of information that outside servers (such as webflyer) store in your computer, so that each time you access that server it 'recognises' you, and can tell you (for example) which threads have new posts since you last logged on.
Don't worry your wee head about it Merry: it is well beyond the difficulty level of teaching your computer to remember your friends e-mail addresses!!
(And don't go off in a huff again - we've only just kissed & made up!)

Bab's: I'll have you know I have progressed to having a fully fuctioning 'Address Book'.
Of course I had to get someone from CIT (IT Support) to do it for me and show me how it worked, but it keeps them employed.
Now how many miles do I need for these cookies you talk about?
I fell sooooooo discriminated against, we can't get the Mrs.Fields cookies from Hilton delievered to the UK! Do you think Tesco's coconut macaroons will suffice?

I want to toss my cookies. Flyer Talk's preferences doesn't want to deal with cookies right now. Everytime I try to update my preferences, it reverts back to some previous scenario. When I first turned it on this morning, it did another crazy thing by substituting the light bulbs next to each folder with a full screen width menu bar from my information service provider's browser! I turned off the graphics and turned them back on again and everything works fine now.

BlondeBomber... the same thing is happening to me. Maybe the system is on break for the long New Year's Weekend (and nursing a major
Hangover.)
I want to change my preferences for listing entries from 2 to 10 days (want to read the stuff I missed on Vacation) and it keeps going back to two days. I have no idea why.
I would say try back on Monday when normal staffing levels should be there if you can't update.
Merry: WHEN I get to London I will bring you a tin of Mrs. Field's cookies. I don't know if they're as good as your cookie brand. CATMAN
