Too good to be true so I jotted down this friendly gals name in case any problems come up next Summer.

It may be too good to be true. This is from the deal's terms and conditions;
"Only airline mileage acquired directly through an airline mileage program is eligible. Other rewards programs that offer mileage rewards are not eligible."

I read that as: Miles transferred in from anyplace else don't count.

This may just mean that they won't match miles in non-airline program accounts like Webmiles or Mypoints. How could they tell the source of miles in your airline program account unless they were accrued in the most recent period?

Can anyone please help me?!

This offer sounds great and I want to jump on it immediately (even if the limit may have been reached). The only problem is that it's not clear if they will give you a copy of your actual flight miles or of all the miles posted to your account.

I have 50,000 in my United account but only 25,000 of them are actual flying time. does anyone know if they will give me all miles or just actual flying time? Before I go through the hassle of getting my fingers into the Delta pie I want to be sure it's worth it.

thank you!

Thanks hoieunkim and welcome to Flyertalk! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

btw, I got instant approval over the web and I want to call now and make sure that I was one of the first 10,000 people.

Well, got approved by AMEX for the card now, and will begin earning the bonus. Signed up for the Platinum Card, since I thought the extra fee was worth it for the extra miles. Here is how I figure it:

15,000 initial bonus miles;
15,000 spending miles (approximately 1/2 of 10,000 miles will be at grocery stores, etc. which will be doubled);
50,000 miles from AMEX doubling of account=
80,000 miles for about $10,000 of spending + $135.

However, I am figuring it is probably worth it to hit the $25,000 in a year number. The additional $15,000 in spending will probably get me another 20,000 miles, and then the 10,000 miles bonus for spending $25,000 in a year.

Thus, for spending $25,000 in a year, plus the $135 fee, should receive 110,000 Delta SkyMiles! Was gonna spend these dollars anyway, and would have only gotten me about 25,000-30,000 miles approximately on the BofA US Air Plat. Card (1.2 miles/$ or the Starwood Optima (1.25 miles/$ when transferred in 20,000 increments). Thus, approximately 80,000 Delta SkyMiles for the $135 expenditure. Sweet!

Offers like this look great - but some of us are forced to put ALL our corporate travel expenses on our Corporate AMEX - an AMEX card which does not permit Membership Rewards. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif I guess some of you have a bit more freedom.

Djlawman, go for it! Your math is correct; this is an amazing opportunity.

What I find so discouraging is the fact that, as I already had a Delta "classic", worth a mere 5,000 miles, I am not eligible for this offer. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I too am not eligible due to the fact that I once had a Delta SkyMiles card.... (I no longer have it, but it disqualifies me for this promotion).

Does everyone think that AMEX will strictly reinforce & disqualify any & all past Delta credit holders from this offer? I wonder if it's worth taking the plunge to see.

What is everyone's opinion on this?........

Well, I don't know about past users, but I currently hold the classic card, and applied for the platinum. I will get the platinum card, but I may not participate in the 50,000 mile matching scheme, I am told.

Hey, even if you don't qualify for the 50,000 deal (because you previously had a Delta card), it is still a good deal. Say you apply for the Plat. card, which costs you $135 (assuming you don't have a regular AMEX card). And assume you then spend $25,000 on the card in a year, and that $10,000 of that spending is at qualifying double miles locations (grocery stores, drugstores, home improvement, etc.). For that $135, you will get:

15,000 bonus miles
35,000 purchase miles (25,000 + 10,000 double)
10,000 bonus for spending $25,000 on card in a year

60,000 Miles Total. Not bad for a $135 fee and $25,000 of spending. Still a good deal in my book, even if you don't get the 50,000 FF promo.

I had a Delta SkyMiles AmEx already and we just signed up my wife and got an additional card with my name on it. We got the card and called to confirm that we qualified for the promotion. We did! :-)

Didn't get instant approval when I applied the first day the promotion was up. However, I got a voicemail three days ago from AMEX asking me to call them back. I called them back and got approved. I inquired about the first 10,000 application limit and the rep told me that the website will disable itself once the 10,000th application is submitted.

This afternoon I earned 15,013 Delta miles and spent $6.50 for yogurt and muffins without flying 1 mile!! I did drive a few miles to the grocery store after receiving my Amex card and activating it.

It appears that there is NO Excnage fee for foreign purchases. Just the hefty ATM Fee of 2 1/2%!

We have not been successful in getting an answer to the qualification for the 50,000 mile promotion question. Who confirmed that you qualified, i.e. what number did you call etc. Thanks.
