I had a wierd experience with priceline trying to find a hotel at (or near) YYz airport. I bid $36 for a night in a 4* hotel. They didn't accept. then I bid $31 for a 2-4* hotel a minute later, and got a 4* Wyndham!?! Overall good experiences with them though.
Tip: don't bid in multiples of 5, but always add a dollar...increases your chances of being accepted(at least in my experience). So for ex. bid $21 instead of $20

I'm doing a run to YYZ too. I decided to stay at the Hampton Inn Niagara Falls North for US$39. It's the cheapest or next to the cheapest hotel you can stay at in the Hilton HHonors program. I'm going to use the stay to qualify for the "four HHonors stays and get 50000 points and gold status" promotion. That and the double points double miles promotion is making this a very sweet mileage and Hilton points run.

Regarding Priceline, be careful; even though you may be bidding for a hotel in an airport zone, there's no guarantee that the hotel you get will have shuttle service to the airport. But, if you're bidding for 3-star or above, then you can be pretty certain that it will.

I gotta ask -- is this Priceline 4* (four-star) Wyndham in YYZ (Toronto) special? The Wyndhams I've seen in the USA look like they barely qualify for a Priceline 3* rating.

I've seen a few Wyndhams that are easily four star (Wyndham Casa Marina in Key West and the two by the river in New Orleans, off the top of my head), and don't recall a single Wyndham (not Wyndham Garden Inns, but a real Wyndham) that is not worthy of a three star rating.
