Help? Looking for Creative Way to Pick Up Miles

Hi All, I'm new here and enjoying all the good tips. Now I'm hoping someone might be able to help me figure out a creative way to earn some miles. Here's the situation.

We are renting a villa in Turks & Caicos but the owner does not take credit card payments, instead I have to wire funds from my account to theirs. I was hoping to find a way to use my Aadvantage card to get some miles for this transaction. A cash advance is out, since that doesn't qualify for points. So... I was thinking...

Perhaps I can buy an American Express Gift Check, or maybe Traveller's Checks using my Aadvantage Mastercard? Then deposit the Amex gift check or Traveller's check to my checking account, then wire the money from my checking account? Would something like that work? Anyone know?

Actually quite interesting that I read the thread about buying and using a gift check at Publix supermarket that someone else posted. It's kind of the same concept.

Any other possible ideas? Thanks!

Buying travellers checks will count as a cash advance and you won't earn miles.

IS the American Express Travel Fund card a cash advance? That can be charged to your American Express and used at ATM's
