Looks like Flyertalk.com has really made it

I was doing an NFO survey recently which asked me which of a list of about 50 web sites I'd used in the last 7 days. The list included ...
"...
Ebay.com
Flyertalk.com
ABCNews.com
Netflix.com
MSNBC.com
AskJeeves.com ..."

(my bolding)

It would be interesting to see the traffic stats for the 12 months following 9/11. I bet they took off for a while.

FWIW

There's been tons (or tonnes for the metric folk) of publicity after the US $2 fare special in mid-Apr and it's lead lots of newbies to check out FT. There currently a big discussion on the whole 'should newbies be limited to MR forum like CC & OMNI' going on at this thread.

It's interesting that people want to shut the door after they join FT. Oh, and please flame me.

Hundreds of thousands of people join F/T just to read my posts -- and who can blame them?

Yes, but half of them work for the TSA or the Department of Homeland Security- they're really having a hard time decoding your secret messages.

And since you're nearing 8k posts, they're working overtime to catch you before you trade in your posts for miles.

Have you joined the discussion on ORP? While it might be the usual FT hot air vent, some important decision about FT's future are looming and saying your piece in a constructive way matters. That also goes for Dovster also, whom I wish happy 8K.

Congratulations, you are flame #1. I was replying to yours and Doot's "constructive" comments on the discussion on ORP. I just love it when people flame me not because of what I said but because they have no valid argument to what I have written. My (un)constructive comment was to point out the fact that allot of the FT folks are hypocrites. They shut the door after joining FT like only they belong and not anybody else after them. If that's not hypocritical I don't know what is. It's like the Xenophobes of France and even recently in the English elections where a Romanian immigrant's son is leading the protest against immigration. I mean come on. Give me a break.

???? Am I missing something? It looked like a very straightforward response to me, asking for your participation in a discussion elwhere on the topic.

I still can't follow the path from that invitation to xenophobic French.
