Miles, Miles, and More Miles by Randy Petersen
There's never a slow day in the news for miles and points. With that in mind, here's a recap of what's new and what's news:

Good article. For years, I never joined any program because I didn't "fly enough." If only I had known, I would have achived 1 MM on AA a lot sooner! Oh, well. So, I didn't join until 1994, when my mother got sick and I knew I would be flying frequently to LGA from ORD. AA was the only airline that gave me a decent medical emergency fare. My loyalty started there!

I was the same way about FF programs, until my father passed away in 1990. When I got a bereavement fare from Northwest, they asked if I was a WorldPerks member, and I said what the heck sign me up. Daze

I am feeling better about missing the boat (plane) for so long on this, after hearing veterans like yourselves talk about have the revelation! I flew to Ireland last year and it never occurred to me to sign up and get the miles! After this year's trip to Greece where I smartened up and got almost 9,000 miles on AA, I'd almost have another ticket!
Oh well, this past month's articles in USA today about the currency of miles really opened my eyes tyo the fact that "miles" are here to stay. While some of the point sites have crashed and burned, I believe that some are going to stay around! All the big players are in it, don't you think?
Has anyone checked out the milesbar site? there is a link at the bottom of this post, any feedback? There is a pyramid aspect to it but not all of those are bad, are they?
I gave it a shot...

As long as folks are lamenting being late on the ball, I should 'fess up.
In 18 months I had two trips to Asia, three to the middle east, and one to Europe before I figured out that this wasn't "just one last trip" and bothered to sign up for the FF programs.
I practically weep at the 150,000+ miles I could have easily gotten had I only planned...
