looks from wording on the link - "you need a Star Alliance frequent flyer programme number. If you haven't got one of these just click on the logo of the Star Alliance airline you want to join (it'll only take you a few minutes). Then return to this page with your frequent flyer number and fill out the form below" - that it might be open to people without a current *A account, so it may even actually work/be 'legal', but as I say you may wanna check first.

Any comments on the hypothetical ethicality of signing up for a second *G account, presuming one took advantage of the promo last year but got another targetted mail this year? Hypothetically speaking?
