Elite Status

I had heard from a colleague that on some airlines if you had elite status on an airline program, they would automatically grant you the same status on there program? Does anybody know which airline programs this
might be, or anyother information regarding this?

Most of them, if you ask for it. Call the customer service number of the airline you want to become elite on and ask. They'll probably give it to you for a year, after which you'll have to earn it.

In may case, I have Medallion status on Delta and called Continental to ask if they'd give me elite status. This was in October. They said, in effect, "Sure. But if we do it now, your CO elite status will expire at the end of this year. Call again in January and get it for the whole year."

I too am a GOLD medallion level member at Delta. I faxed requests to US and NW last week for elite status in '99. US offers more flight options to my destinations while NW offers better upgrade benefits. It will be interesting to see if either would like to take my business from DL.
