Yes, it is probably safe. However the purchase has not yet gone through so why not just wait until it is official before moving over your miles? That may happen within just a few weeks.
You do take a little risk of what happened in Canada (where Amex dropped one of the carriers over there with no notice due to a request by the carrier) but I would be surprised if that were to happen here.
