Question How to Convert Delta miles to AA miles..can it be done?

I was going to search..as this might have been discussed previously-but that function is down.

I have about 60,000+Delta skymiles and would like to convert them over to American Airlines. I went to webflyer.com-as one thread suggested and there does not appear to be a way to take from Delta-give to another partner-that also partners with American-so I can transfer them that way.

Has anyone tried this/know a way to do it?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Shi

Delta not available in webflyer miles conversion "convert to"?

Normally you can use this link on webflyer.com:

http://www.webflyer.com/programs/mileage_converter/

But for some reason Delta does not appear in the "convert from" column, only the "convert to" column. I do not know of any way to convert them that will result in a decent return. The only thing I can think of that MAY work is if you have a Diners Club card and Diners lets you transfer Delta into Diners (they allow some miles to go into Diners like AA, not sure on DL) you could then transfer them out to AA. You would suffer a 50% devaluation. I am sure that there are some other convolluted transfers that could be done, but many of them would devalue so much that they are not worth it at all.

Honestly, with 60k miles, I would just use them, there are plenty of available awards for that many. Even a 50% devaluation is not worth it in my opinion, and I think that is probably the best you could hope for. Just do not let them expire before using them.

There's a good reason for that. You can't transfer out of DL. Period.

I researched this a while back and couldn't find a way. It's a bummer if you're trying to get to AA MM.

You can use DL miles on Skymiles partners & CO and NW. Recently, I was able to use DL miles for an award ticket to Far East on CO without any problems .

I was afraid if I could find a way to do it..it would have the 50% deduction like everyone here is telling me.

And yes..the reason I wanted to switch it to my AA account would be the nice plump transfer for my MM!

Oh well...guess I will continue to be a pain in the rear for DL-until all of these are used!

Thanks all!
