D-J Lawman, you award has been picked up and is on it's way to you... Congratulations!
And it's nice that we have a resident lawyer
among us... a chocolate expert (RUDI) people with such diverse backgrounds... From around
the world... and of course a man with cats!

Mileage Addict... Thanks for your suggestions
for a new name for the award. I will leave it to my fellow OMNI Committee member Rudi
to decide if a name change is needed.

IN fact, once you guys awaken from the nap I put you in from my rambling story... If you want to propose new names on a separate OMNI
board ... go ahead.

We can call the award:

THE OMNI
THE RUDI (For our most popular member)
THE YAZ & EDDIE (IN honor of my dear cats)
THE BIG MEOW (CATMAN"S suggestion!)

As a footnote, for those contributers who weren't around when emmett_s, nancy & roberto were at their peak:

As Catman said, these three produced a variety of strange & misspelt* postings. The other contributers weren't certain whether to be annoyed by them, laugh at them or ignore them... I think this peaked when roberto, the cooperat execitiv, claimed to have become a complimentary 'executed primer' on UA, shortly before Halloween.

emmett_s vanished, and we still don't know where he went, although a lookalike does surface occasionally. nancy still pops up once in a while, and roberto... well, roberto turned out to be a complete fraud. We have our theories about who he may have been, but on one occasion he accidentally made a post in perfect English (forgetting who he had logged in as..) and the cat was out of the bag!

roberto is still around - you see him popping up with his pal arturo (who is probably the original roberto), but he is now a hand-puppet, available to anyone when they feel like a little nonsense. We've learnt to live with this pair, although the Cat-cop does threaten them when they get out of line.

* Please don't get into the way that 'spelt' is spelled - we've been through all that already. I originate from the right side of the Atlantic, so I use spelt.

all of the above is correct (thank you).

emmett_s disappeared before I myself started here.

Before we met CatMan (second time), CatMan already added in his OMNI-answers often related with nancy at that time), playing CatPolice himself for his own posting, that he might have won the OMNI-award of the day ... So in fact, he laid the base for creating a REAL award. I just discussed and pushed the realization of his idea in that meeting. One of my personal motives for the award was/still is: to thank (many of) you for a (in my personal judgement) far above average quality/seriousness/friendliness/help/humour for such an open board on the internet (and for accepting my difficulties with your language).

We didn't wanted to be bent by any strict rules, we did just discuss and agree on some principles as f.e.:

* to be (as an ad-hoc-committee) free to give the award whenever we feel like doing it, to whom we feel could help the quality/humour/every-day life here on FlyerTalk, and to change/adapt the trophies from case to case.

* the award should never harm the interests of our hosts (FlyerTalk/webflyer).

* the award should make fun (and not have any "police" or "teacher" form ...and not even "harm" potential "misusers" of the FlyerTalk-board: the best way to deal with them, we thought, was to simply ignore them - but we didn't "judge" emmett_s, nancy, roberto as "misusers" - at least as long as their contributions are not to long and to many of them).

* we want to be free, to stop it any ("appropiate") time - whenever we think it would be best to stop it.

* the trophy should never have any real money-value (we couldn't afford this) - but make fund and hopefully be appreciated, by as many as possible.

One of the difficulties CatMan and me faced, when we decided on the November-award(s) (with many winners) was, that we could only include FlyerTalk-contributers as winners, of whom we knew their actual mailing addresses (as I had to prepare the mailing long before my US-trip, but at the same time we didn't want to announce the winners before the mailing-date and we were to shy to ask more people here to just trust and deliver us their postal-addresses without reason).

The american part of the nancy_roberto_emmett-award has been sent to Djlawman directly from CatMan (I own one copy of that myself - so we might be laughing about the same things everyday next year ...) - the Swiss part of it will be sent on monday.

I was able to get the addresses for those
November Emmett_Nancy_Roberto award winners
by asking you for your addresses for my Christmas card list (the cards I promise will
be sent out this weekend!)

And as always, if the OMNI committee asks for
any information it's always held in the strictest confidence.

This OMNI member has been fighting for months
to get off dozens of credit card and catalog
lists! It works for a few weeks, but on the day after Thanksgiving I received 39 catalogs! The mail carrier had to bring up the rest!

At least it gives the cats something to sharpen their claws on! CATMAN

Well, the American part of the award has arrived at my door, courtesy of the US Postal Service. A great 1999 flip calendar entitled "Legal Lunacies." Lots of hilarious stories about lawyers, criminals, court cases, etc. (Fortunately, I am one of those lawyers who has no problem laughing at my profession.) By the way, have you heard the one about the lawyer who .....
Thanks for the great gift, CATMAN, and once again for the award.
