Seattle mileage run!
I was checking out the Dream Map from Travelocity tonight and noticed a $198RT price tag for Miami which happens to be a noticeable number of miles away. I found out the fare was being offered by Delta. Went to the Delta website and discovered that I also earn a cool 5k bonus miles for using their website for the first time. I used my Delta/AMEX credit card and earned a few more miles. With taxes, I ended up paying $222 for a total of 11,140 miles and I get to spend a weekend with my family in Fort Lauderdale (no rental car or hotel expense). Comes out to costing .019 per mile!!!

Could have done the same on US. They were matching the WN sale. Going SEA-FLL r/t for $214-217 in November. 13k+ miles for me + 11k miles for my first-time on US friend.

I just bought my first official mileage run ticket. SEA-DTW-MCO-MSP-SEA. I leave on a 11pm flight on a Tuesday night and get back Wednesday night at about midnight. Miles with my Alaska MVP bonus is about 8375. Price for the ticket with taxes was $175 or about $.021 per mile. Not bad for a run out of Seattle.
My incentive for this is I discovered that a trip I'm taking to Africa using miles is 80K in coach and only 20K more for business class. A couple of quick trips to Florida for that upgrade is a great deal.

Sounds like a great deal! If the airlines ever run the deal in reverse, i.e. Miami TO Seattle, and a few FT'ers are in town in March, be neat to catch up for a drink or dinner. And THIS time hope to find my way to the Boeing factory at Everett!
With a ladyfriend en route to NYC I'll be in SEA all day and evening of Wed March 21st if anyone is about and up to it. And mcrt .. still have that Rotary souvenir with me I forgot to give you last time around in SEA!

I will be in Seattle Saturday the 3rd of March from 11:00AM to Sunday the 4th at 12:15AM.
I was able to snag a 188.00 R/T FLL SEA. It started out at 265.00. I was able to get two MCO's from fare reductions!
If anyone wants to meet up email me.

Ozstamps, I believe Boeing has stopped giving factory tours in Everett. There is a great Museum of Flight here (SEA) though - it's near Boeing Field which is close to the airport.

No need for false rumours. Get the facts proverbially straight from horse's mouth.
Everett tour information
Tickets for adults are $5 if unreserved, $10 reserved.

Warren ... I understand it is about 2 hours? I missed out on the tour (via Grayline) by 5 minutes in Nov, so will get it together somehow this time. How to get from a (southern SEA) airport Hotel to Everett (40 miles north) without needing to hire a car and drive on the "wrong" side of the road is now the Challenge for March!

Five of us FlyerTalkers took the tour on the Friday afternoon prior to the September FlyerTalk Getogether. The actual tour is one hour. We probably spent another half hour folowing the tour, hanging out in the gift shop.
Traffic on I-5 can most certainly be brutal and unpredictable. I think our trip up to Everett from downtown Seattle took about 25 minutes
but our return trip took about 2 hours
and that is with me knowing all the secret short cuts.
Allowing 4 hours to drive up there, complete the tour and get back is in most cases realistic. With luck it might only take 3, but it is better to allow an extra hour than to miss one's plane.
