back to our originally scheduled program...
again, telling people that they need to read threads in flyertalk (the point of the thread) in order to benefit from information on flyertalk.com doesn't exactly seem to be nobel-prize-winning information.
here's another one: go to the doctor when you are sick. here's another: if you are tired, get some sleep.

Durned. Missed this one because I was in Las Vegas on an MR.
On the main point, though, also don't forget the original CO-to-UA transfer opportunity on Amtrak before it got capped. I moved some 180K or so miles, plus 50K so far post-caps. Was able to use 60K to get an Asia award when CO/NW were booked solid one summer, another 60K for an Australia/New Zealand, and 20K each for two Australia/Oceanias that were exceptional value to hard-to-reach spots. I'm not a great fan of UA, but getting access to TG, SQ and NZ awards through *A made it possible for me to get to quite a few more places.

A good place to see this principle in even faster motion is in some of the deals uncovered by people at fatwallet.com. I know a number of FTers are also on that board (for savings-conscious consuming consumers), and they're always finding pricing mistakes or other interesting combo deals over there, many unintentional. Seems like the more incredible the deal, the faster it gets burned out or pulled.
