"What can I do to make the most of the miles I have?"
From Randy's "Mileage Makeover":
By reviewing their issues and solutions, you can learn "how-to" think about mileage programs. This new thinking helps you to help yourself. And if you get stuck, remember I'm always here to help.
So with all that in mind, let's take a look at a...Mileage Makeover!

Unless I am missing something, I think Randy got this one wrong. Randy says:
"Based on your numbers, youll have about 140,000 HHonors points in two years time. That leaves you 60,000 points short of the 200,000 needed. Id take advantage of the Hilton Reward Exchange and move your Delta and Northwest balances into Hilton points. At 5,000 airline miles equaling 10,000 HHonors points, move 10,000 WorldPerks miles (20,000 points) and 20,000 Delta miles into HHonors points (the redemption will reset the expiration of your remaining Delta miles)."
However, a review of the Hilton HHonors website shows that Northwest does NOT participate in the Rewards Exchange, so you cannot dump WorldPerks miles into HHonors. (this has bugged me for years, since I have a number of NW orphan miles I would like to use somehow).

Good catch Djlawman - NW miles cannot be transferred to HHonors. You can use 5,000 NW miles for Hawaii inter-island award, or 20,000 NW miles for off peak US coach ticket on NW or CO flights. If you have stranded NW miles your best bet is to use a partner like Clickrewards or NW Visa with signup bonus to get to these award levels.
So the makeover guy needs to enroll in the Hilton conquest promotion to make up for the NW mile transfer.

He could also join us and trade on Coupon Connection for the HHonors certs that give a discount for 100K awards and greater. Gold gets 20K off - he says he will be gold. I still have quite a few. Are they handing them out anymore??? Don't think so.

You are so right! For my exclusive use. Believe me, I have more than I need. Too bad they cannot be traded. I have not received any in so long I am assuming the gift is over. I was so happy with their Mileage Plus Nights, however, that I cannot complain. Plus the latest promos: sign up before Feb 28 for the Gold Challenge - 4 stays in 3 months = 50K bonus points!! See the Hilton thread under Codes.

In fact, more than 3.5 trillion unused miles are languishing in frequent-flier accounts, according to InsideFlyer.com. Thats enough miles for everyone in metro Orlando to take a round trip to Paris once a year for 45 years.
