One way awards

The Bird has returned from my migration south. Happy to be back. I've already received some great info.

Does anyone know off the top of your head if there are one way awards available with any airlines. Thanks bunches for the info.

Hey Catman, I've noticed you've been busy chatting away. Is it 1,000 posts already.

Birdyy! Welcome back! I've missed you! Glad
you are getting a lot of tips here!

I've really overcome my shyness on writing on this site and have received a lot of great tips and made some great friends!

I would say you might want to check with the individual airlines on one-way awards. Or even write Randy. It's a good question!

UA (international flights)
LH (all flights)
offer one-way-upgrades (using miles from your account)

to my knowledge practically every major airline offer one-way-upgrades against (a series of different) vouchers and ff-rules.

Under the FlyWrite system Northwest allowed one way award travel, but they discontinued this several years ago when they went to banked miles - this was really great and allowed one to get a one way ticket for 10,000 miles. Interestingly, they still compute the mileage separately for each direction of the round trip as the outward bound and return journey may fall on different periods (peak vs off-peak) and require different number of miles. I do not know how this is affected in the newly announced changes in their FF program.

The round-the-world-award-ticket (all StarAlliance-partners) is a (follow up of) one-way-segment(s).
