Caviar, anyone?

Don't you miss the caviar we got in the old days First class?

I know SQ still serves some but are they a dying breed? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

AA had caviar on the cart from BOS to LAX (three class service) just a couple of months ago. But who still serves Dom Perignon in F?

UA say they dropped caviar on "ecologically based" grounds. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Who serves Dom Perignon in First sbrower? Well ask about ten of us that flew UA over and back to DUS in November. A few even had it served in COACH the whole way, in crystal flutes - like Baze and Scott The Flier! I got it served all the way to OZ in Business Class, see:

I just came back from a trans-Pacific trip in Cathay Pacific's first class (LAX to HKG on CX881 12/23 and HKG to SFO on CX#872 1/13).
Both times the meal service began with a very generous portion of Iranian caviar with all the trimmings on toast and/or blinis and a choice of either Stolichnaya or champagne.

I did think the Stoli wasn't cold enough, but considering the rest of the service, I wasn't going to make an issue of it.

A few months ago AA had a nice caviar service with all the expected accompanyments in first both directions between ORD and LHR.

AA had a nice presentation of caviar with extras and chilled vodkas served in F MIA-MAD in December. A SwissAir Business flight had it offered IAD-ZRH but it was merely decoration on the side of the plate and not the affair of a wheeled cart.
Anyone seen Lobster tails, not just lobster salad or pasta. A colleague of mine had Singapore Airlines with lobster thermidor in First but has not seen it otherwise. However, salmon is ever present throughout any business class you travel.

AA does caviar in F on almost all of it's 3 class routes, as far as I know.

Virgin Atlantic has micro sprinkles of caviar on some of the open-faced snackies in their EWR lounge. CO served a shelled cold lobster on my last EWR-HNL B/F trip. Delicous!

AA served caviar the last time I flew F between JFK-LHR.

The last time I had nice caviar was at Petrossian! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I had a fabulous meal with hot and cold running caviar with a client at Petrossian about 12 years ago. I paid (and had to raise my consulting fees for this account the following month to make myself whole). The client never complained.

Two trips this month in Singapore Airlines F
First one an evening flight with Dom & caviar served. But what really stood out was the overnight flight where the FA made me scrambled eggs in the morning! (He gave me a choice of how I wanted them done.)

In addition to the aforementioned caviar served by AA in first on the ORD-LHR route, we also had lobster on the way to LHR. Granted it was served with a salad, but everyone got both a lobster tail and claw, pre-shelled.

The salad on the return was served only with large strips of tasty sirloin http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif.

Coming back from HEL on Finnair, they ply you with crawfish. As many as you can eat.

It's a way to pass the time, I think, because you have to de-claw them. The person I was traveling with must have had 20-30 of them over the course of 5 hours...
