Max Possible Miles? (newbie seeking affirmation)

OK, this is my first post on this forum... I want to do a RTW in J using Delta Skymiles for 2. I did this trip last summer and I booked in March and found very good availability. So, operating on that assumption, I am going to try to hit 440,000 miles by Mid-March. Since last March (I had 34 miles left after that redemption, and I burned another 50k in June) I have accumulated 152000 Skymiles. I have quite a bit of travel left this year, a couple MRs, and the Skymiles Medallion bonus coming my way and I have calculated that I will have straight up 300,000 miles at year's end (assuming that Medallion bonus posts within a reasonable amount of time). So my goal is to get the 140k by March. In trying to look at MR possibilities, I just don't have the time to fly and get all of those miles, so I decided I would try and transfer in as many as possible. WAAAAY to much info, I know... anyways, Below are the results of my labor and I would like to know if this looks like my best option:

Program Balance
SPG: 634
Priority Club: 11527
Gold Points: 11000
Hilton HHonors: 12977
Southwest Rapid Rewards: 3
Continental Onepass: 1000
Northwest Worldperks: 7536
USAir Dividend Miles: 3222
United Mileage Plus Miles: 10777
American AAdvantage: 8627

Transfer Net Delta Skymiles
SPG (Direct) 634 (634)
Priority Club (Direct) 2882 (11527)
Hilton HHonors (Direct) 1298 (12977)
Gold Points (Direct) 1677 (13413)
Diners Club (Direct) 9702 (19404)

USAir Dividend Miles <-> Gold Points 2413 (3222) (points.com - free)
American <-> Diners Club 8627 (8627)
United <-> Diners Club 10777 (10777)

Miles: 634 (+15%) + 2882 (+15%) + 1298 (+15%) + 1677 (+15%) + 9702 = 17167 (15% bonus applies if transfer is made by 11/15/04)

Costs: $95 for enrollment in Diners Club

Stranded:
Southwest Rapid Rewards: 3
Continental Onepass: 1000
Northwest Worldperks: 7536

Is this my best option for all these points/miles?

Is there anything I can do with those 3 stranded accounts?

Hmmm.. interesting

Not sure if it belongs in S.P.A.M.though, but I will leave it here and then move it to MilesBuzz! if you don't get the information you need.

My only concern with your calculations is that you cannot do the 1:1 transfers.

In the case of the SPG transfer, I think you need to do it in 1,000 point increments, not sure you can transfer them that way.

I would double check your math and see what the transfer blocks are.

And your HHonors calculation seems incorrect.

My apologies if this is the wrong forum, I just got all this info from this forum, so I assumed it would be the right place to post. The following are the transfer rates I got from delta.com (these may be special rates, I do not know... but they are listed here :

SPG - 1:1
Priority Club - 4:1
Hilton HHonors - 10:1
Gold Points - 8:1
Diner's Club - 2:1

On the SPG note, I figured there would be a minimum, but I should snag those points in the next couple weeks to at least hit 1000.

I think you got your math backwards also

It takes 10 Hilton points for one Skymile

Do you want me to move this thread?

No, I got it right... I have 12997 Hilton point and in my figuring, I stated I would recieve 1298 Skymiles... or that is what I was trying to say.

You can leave it here for today, but if it doesn't get any responses, perhaps move it to Milesbuzz? Thanks a lot jfe!

FYI - to transfer out of USAirways using points.com you need to be a USAirways credit card holder.

If you never had a Diners Club card before make sure that you get an offer which gives the bonus points for getting the card. I do not know what the best offer is currently, but in the past I've seen enrollment offers which offer anywhere from 10,000 to 15,000 airline miles (more if you happen to hit an airline transfer bonus), some of these offers spread the miles over a year and some are lump sum.

Also if you do not have the Starwood Amex, I would recommend getting the card with the 4000 point offer and trying to charge enough to accumulate a total of 20,000 Starwood points which will give you 25000 airline miles. That is far better than some of the conversions you list where you are losing anywhere from 50% to 90% of the intrinsic value of your miles/points.

The only possible thing I can think of is to somehow get to 5000 CO miles where you would be able to transfer them 1:1 to United (using Amtrack), and then use Diners Club to move from United to Delta.

There is a free 100 CO mile offer listed in MilesBuzz. For the remaining 3900, hope that you get bumped from a Delta flight to one in Continental or its partners.
