Help! Which Elite FF program? AF, DL, others?

Hello every one. I am so happy to have found this site. It is faboulous.

I am flying 3 Internation trips on Sky Team members from now until March.

I haven't decided if I will go for DL Medalion or AF Rouge. I am leaning towards AF because I will be Sky Team Elite Plus after 40,000 miles. I would attain that with DL after 100,000.

90% of my travel is International so domestic upgrades wouldn't really pertain and seems like they are becoming extinct on DL anyway. 100% of my travel is for pleasure and 0% for business.

The perks for AF are not great but after 40,000 I will have Intl lounge access and 100% mileage bonus.

The rest of the year I may try for another program. I live in a UA hub but their tickets are always so much more expensive then all the other carriers and you do not earn miles towards Elite on most of the *A carriers.

I worked my way through college working for the airlines and traveling the globe for free. I recently graduated and now is my chance to become eilte.

I would appreciate feedback from the rest of you on what direction I should take. I am leaving soon to Thiland and Cambodia so I need to decide soon.

This really is a great place. I am so happy I found it. I have already learned about so many faboulous promotions like "Fast track to Gold VIP" with Hilton HHonors.

If you've already booked your tickets on DL or AF, then I think you're plan is a good one.

If you haven't booked them yet, I'd suggest you look at alternate carriers for the routing.

2 Many Miles has it right. Go with AF if you must since you get some respect after only 40k with them compared to 100k with DL. Either way, you don't get as much respect as you should. Go with Star Alliance or One World instead, I'd say.

Thanks 2 Many Miles and Spiff.

I have booked 2 RT on KE (Sky Team member) so I think I am going with AF as far as status.

I also want to choose another program after March.

I have not researched AA and OW that much. It seems that with UA and most *A carriers that many flights do not count towards Elite or only a percentage of the miles count.

Are the benefits in general better with OW or *A? What are your opinions on the best program out there worldwide.
