I flew JFK-LIM on LA in F--equivalent to AA in F. 5-across in a 767, indiv. video, primo food. Couldn't quite tell if the seats were full flat but they were sure close. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Access to BA's lounge in JFK. Only problem was somewhat scatterbrained boarding at JFK (boarded from the Concorde gate (!) and seemed like a heaving mass of humanity (not good Spanish instructions, as c/i was done by BA).

The flight to MAD and FRA is daily on A340 aircraft (no more stopping for gas in GRU). I've not flown BA, so can't comment, but LAN's business seats are better than AA or UA. Service is very good.

Thanks Jim_B!

It looks like I've found my answer to trans-Atlantic crossings which will earn me AA points!!
