Help with Frecuenta

Hi: I have tried to follow the Mexicana Frecuenta/Hilton cue. So I called and applied for a ff number and card. Got it in the mail and it says I have 7,400 Kms. The post as I understood it said if you had 6 thousand something you could transfer it to hilton. Could someone give me the next step with these points as to what I do next. I want to do it right. Thanks

UpInTheAir Dec 9, 2000 1:12 pm

7,400 km = 4,625 miles. Your next step should be to contact Frecuenta at [email protected] and ask them to transfer 3,125 miles to your HHonors account at the rate of 3,125 miles = 10,000 HHonors points. Needless to say, you give them your Frecuenta and HHonors membership numbers along with your Frecuenta PIN. After 2-3 weeks, you should see 10,000 HHonors points credited to your account.

I tried having these "bonus" miles put into my Hilton account and was told by Frequenta that this type of "bonus" miles could not be used for that purpose. Two different calls and the same answer both times. Any suggestions? Thanks.

kempis Dec 9, 2000 4:22 pm

I just mailed Frequenta and asked for 3125 miles to be transfered to 10.000 Hilton Points. They said the points would be at my Hilton account within 2 weeks.

davidlee Dec 9, 2000 4:24 pm

You mention a frecuenta pin number. All I got was a card with my membership number. How do I get a pin number? Or are you refering to the Hilton Honor pin number?

Ask (Email) and ye shall receive.

Mexicana statements are in kilometers, but conversion rates are in miles.

1 mile = 1.6km
3,125 miles = 10,000 HHonors points
3,125 miles = 5,000 km

So you need to transfer 3,125 miles (5,000km) to get 10,000 HHonors points.

Now, how to do it: As stated in a post above, if you call Frequenta and ask to transfer the bonus miles, they won't. Their policy is that bonus miles can't be transferred out. However, if you make the same request to this e-mail:
[email protected]
the miles will transfer.

Why this is, I don't know. In the e-mail, simply ask to deduct 5,000km from your account and transfer 10,000 HHonors points. You need to include your name, phone number, and account numbers. I have made transfers without including a Frecuenta pin.

Hope this helps.

Thank you everyone. Well I tried following the advice of Family Flyer because it seemed the easiest. I will wait and see what happens. I am indebted to everyone for the help. Thanks again. I'll let you know what happens.

Email frecuenta and you will get your PIN, you can then email them back and request the points transfer. Ive done it, it works.

Why would you need to send them your pin when they already have it?

ranles Dec 10, 2000 1:33 pm

A "funny story". When I signed up it was on the spanish language area. I could not seem to get to the english. I know enough spanish to do this poorly (high school nearly 40 years ago). Now I have a statement that I cannot read!!! But the numbers are correct. I too embarrassed to take it further.

Paul3456 Dec 10, 2000 1:59 pm

The PIN is shown in the area where the card is attached to the folder that they mailed to you. It says NIP:xxxx. That is your PIN.

ozstamps Dec 10, 2000 10:03 pm

NIP is PIN backwards. Wonder if you need to read the number backwards to them? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

you can, ozstamps, but then they take your 3000 points from HHonors and transfer it into Frecuenta.

tulane85 Dec 12, 2000 7:00 am

...and don't forget to invert it, ozstamps, to make the hemispherical transformation.

I'll work on 666666 points in that case. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

That one threw me for a minute until the wife reminded me that NIP is the Spanish acronym for "Numero de Identificacion Personal" (Personal ID Number or PIN). Made sense then http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

MukMuk Dec 12, 2000 3:13 pm

You know how some people ask you for your PIN number, do Mexicans ask you for your NIP personal?

I haven't been following this closely, but I was under the impression that you could not transfer the bonus miles to HH unless you had a qualifying flight? Is this incorrect. Also I signed my wife and myself up via the web about 6 weeks ago and have not received anything?? How long has it taken to get a card?? Thanx

Larrude Dec 14, 2000 11:07 am

As a follow up to the comments by Family Flyer, please see the following email I just received:

Thank you for your inquiry into Frecuenta/Hilton Honors transfers.
Unfortunately, enrollment and bonus miles are not eligible for transfer to
Hilton Honors. Only miles earned for Mexicana flights are eligible for
transfers. Please check our website:
www.mexicana.com.mx/mx2/english/Frecuenta/beneficios/benehilton.asp

Thank you.

I too received the email posted above.

Is there a way around this???

zipual Dec 14, 2000 12:37 pm

Very unusual because I signed up for the card in September, and received my card in the mail about 2 weeks ago. I subsequently sent an email to Frequenta requesting the transfer to my HHonors account and received the following email in response:

Thank you for your e-mail. The request to transfer 5,000 kilometers from each Frecuenta account to 10,000 Hilton Honors points (each account) has been requested. Please allow up to two weeks for the points to show in
your Hilton account.

Thank you,

I checked my Frecuenta account online, and it shows the miles going out to Hilton on 12/5. Did the same thing for my wife's account and it worked the same way with the same letter.

My experience is exactly the same as zipual's; same email and everything. And checking my Hilton account just now, there's 10,000 new points http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

davidlee Dec 14, 2000 4:59 pm

Tried checking my frequenta account to see if miles had been taken out and sent to Hilton. But everytime I get same message"wrong account number"--have any of you others had that problem--

Yes, exactly the same thing happening to me in the last hour. I know the acct# and pin are correct.

sgosline Dec 14, 2000 5:29 pm

My problem is worse. Everytime I try and log on to check my Frecuenta balance my computer freezes up and I have to reboot! I received my card, my statement, and a NIP but a United flight that I had credited to my Frecuenta account has not shown up (surprise!). I'll try the e-mail.

motnot Dec 14, 2000 9:58 pm

It could be that the party's over, so to speak.

I think their systems may just be offline. I couldn't access my account either, but checked my HHonors account and the miles have already posted. I only asked for the transfer on Tuesday.

kempis Dec 15, 2000 11:09 am

I did sign up for Frequenta several months ago but still I havent received the card. 10 days ago I transfered enough miles from my Frequenta account for 10.000 Hilton points but those points isnt on my Hilton account yet.

geo1004 Dec 15, 2000 11:42 am

I sent a second email to frecuenta asking for the transfer and received the reject email again:

"Thank you for your inquiry into Frecuenta/Hilton Honors transfers.

Hilton Honors. Only miles earned for Mexicana flights are eligible for

I also get the "wrong account number" message now. I sent an email to transfer points last weekend, and on Tuesday received the following reply:

--------------------------------------
Thank you for your e-mail. The request to transfer 5,000 kilometers from each Frecuenta account to 10,000 Hilton Honors points (each account) has been requested. Due to the heavy call volume that Hilton is receiving, we have been advised that transfers are taking up to 4 weeks. Your patience is appreciated.
---------------------------------------

I checked online on Thursday, but nothing was taken out yet. But now I get the "wrong account" message. Don't know whether or not the system is down, or if I've been terminated!!!

Well, since I got the initial positive message and haven't received a negative one,
I hope the points get transferred

CA Platinum Dec 16, 2000 2:49 pm

Well, here's a new e-mail response from Frecuenta. I received my card in the mail, then requested my PIN by e-mail. They sent my PIN number two days later. I then e-mailed a second time requesting the transfer and this is the response I got.

"Thank you for your e-mail. The request to transfer 5,000 kilometers from
each Frecuenta account to 10,000 Hilton Honors points (each account) has
been requested. Due to the heavy call volume that Hilton is receiving, we

Well, after a morning of "wrong account number", I finally got in. But they haven't
taken the 3125 out of my account yet. So even though they sent me the "positive" e-mail, I wonder if I'll ever see the 10K in my Hilton account!

Kermy FF Dec 18, 2000 3:47 pm

I was one of the fortunate ones that was able to get the transfer done and banked 10,000 HHonors points. However, my father just sent the same e-mail, a week later, and was told that the miles were not eligible. I agree with some of the previous posts in that "the party may be over."

Lasse Dec 19, 2000 10:38 am

I guess I was also too late for the fiesta... I got the same reply as geo1004 today:

> Thank you for your inquiry into Frecuenta/Hilton Honors transfers.
> Unfortunately, enrollment and bonus miles are not eligible for transfer to
> Hilton Honors. Only miles earned for Mexicana flights are eligible for
> transfers. Please check our website:

Nobbi Dec 19, 2000 12:47 pm

It seems that this may be a "sort of cultural" issue: it works one day and not another.

I, too, signed up and did receive my number and pin via email. I then attempted to obtain their "distinguished client" card for $150 which gives you bonus miles when you fly C class. According to the web site this can be purchased at any Mexicana office. I went to the local one by the SFO airport where I spent 30 minuted while the 2 women in the office called all around to find out about it. They had no ide what I was talking about. I made them look it up on their own web site. The final outcome was that it was only available at any Mexicana office IN MEXICO. The web site does not say that.

netcat Dec 20, 2000 3:00 pm

I've also got this email reply http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif :

Anyone can help?

OnePassLover Dec 20, 2000 6:03 pm

Yes, the party is over. Should have transfer my miles earlier. Here is my second and reply

__________________________________________________ ________
When I enrolled to the program three months ago.
There is no such restriction on the web. Since the
rule was added recently, shouldn't the miles I
received before the change qualify for the transfer?
I will appreciate if you can reconsider my situation
again. Thanks and happy holiday.
__________________________________________________ ________
Unfortunately, this is being strictly enforced and monitored by both
Hilton
and Frecuenta Mexico. The contract is sent up to benefit Mexicana
frequent
flyers with actual flown miles.

Your understanding is appreciated.
