[*] The tolls on the harbour bridge are voluntary. You should only contribute if the toll officer sings for you, or at the very least plays an instrument.

[*] The Olympic "Clearway" lanes are kept completely clear of traffic so as to provide cheap parking.
[*] The monorail is no longer in service. The metal track, though, is now available to American visitors for rollerblading, or simple sunbaking.
[*] Sydney has vibrant drinking houses and a lively tradition to match. Join in the fun by following a local custom - after every third drink, catch the eye of as many people as possible and call out loudly, "It's my shout!".
[*] Visitors to Sydney will notice a unique road service provided to assist tourists: special sightseer lanes on the Harbour Bridge and elsewhere, marked B-U-S, which stands for Banned Unless Sightseeing.
[*] Small silver scooters are ubiquitous throughout the city and are provided free by the State Transit Authority .... just approach someone riding one and ask them firmly to give up the scooter...they may protest ... but don't be put off. You may need to physically wrestle the scooter from the other rider.

I will not post anything here on THIS thread for about 24 hours, but when I do, it will be greatly worth visiting IMHO. If you watched the last episode of Survivor, bookmark this thread for tomorrow evening and re-visit then for some very interesting stuff. It was unfair to these persons to post immediately for reasons I'll reveal later.

Hey fellers -- we need humour and overall tolerance to make this board work. The cited "essential advice" came from Richard Glover's ABC Radio program. I was going to add a number of ring-in contributions from listeners, which raise a grin. However, given the now hostile tone of this thread, perhaps it is better to just close it off.

Me thinks that the cure is worse than the “so-called” disease. I read, I laughed, I liked. It there any need to make a debate out of simple humor? I agree with 0524, “The way I figure it, FlyerTalk is half information, half entertainment. Both are important in today's crazed world.” I like FT because it gets me away from my workaday world of criminals and lawyers (in no particular order). Before long, I’ll need the criminals and lawyers as a getaway from FT.

Well it is 1.20 a.m. here Friday.

Margaret and I have just returned home from dropping Randy Peterson at his Hotel. After a VERY interesting night that involved drag queens and gay bars and white bait, pola pola, and black ravioli and BYO and all sorts of other interesting things I will not go into here.

And I can assure you I am not gay, and I can't really speak for Randy but my guess is there is a 105% probability that is not correct either.

I have decided not to post anything further on this thread.

And Kokonutz ... you really blew it.

And Catman ... you have threatened to resign from this board about 200 times during the few months I have been here.

It is like Dame Nellie Melba. Who cares? I certainly don't. Keep your repeated promise. Go away. Or stay. You are a big boy.

Yes, david you did miss something. A quick recap. Ozstamps has been posting on these boards for three months. During that time he has acumulated more posts than most people make in many years. Some of his posts are helpful, some (IMO) are stupid, and others have felt that some are wrong. The group that feels some of his posts are wrong are worried that people will give them more credence because of the large number of posts he has made. There is another group that is offended by his attacks including the D**khead incident. (see language topic in only randy peterson forum). Catman has also posted quite a bit in a much less controversal fashion. He has many friends on this board and is generally well liked. He has recieved a small amount of critisim over his attempt to keep things civil via his alter ego commander catcop. Some feel that no fylertalker should tell others what to do. Catman has threeatened to leave several times recently and Ozstamps is chastising him for in essence crying wolf. I pesonally hope he stays and the thunder from down under goes...however I am not king. Doc also who is an extremly prolific poster (who I have had run ins with myself http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ) is correct in trying to get flyertalk back to talking about travel instead of Buddy Holly headstone etchings or whatever else someone wants to post today. I can't understand why some people on this board are so sensitive and get their feelings hurt so easily.

The censors here drive me nuts always talking about "let's get back to travel, let's keep it civil, let's play nice, blah, blah, blah. You people are Sooooooooooooooo boring.

Those guys are just entertaining themselves and the rest of us and I daresay most of it is touge-in-cheek and they are not taking it that seriously (neither should you).

As long as we can avoid long stretches of profanity (it's more witty if you can dis' someone without it) I don't care!

There is plenty of travel talk, and that will never go away, let's not all be such killy-joys and party poopers.

The occasion light-hearted, fuuny, or spirited name calling thread won't hurt anyone. If you don't like it, move on to the next thread. Or go to the UA forum where I'm sure you'll find a much more interesting thread on some platinum complaining that UA didn't give him quadrupal gazillion miles and couldn't upgrade his whiny asss!

I repeat for the third time, I have not read ONE useful travel related post from you in the 6 months I've been on this boards. Not a single ONE that I can recall. I asked you to please enlighten me if I was wrong. Select your choice. The silence has been deafening from you. Just lots more nasty jabs instead. I invited all on these boards to judge the usefulness of the last 100 posts I have made, against the last 100 of yours, and tell me whether yours were of more value to this community. The silence has been absolutely deafening on that too. A few quite predictable "I've met Marty he is a nice guy, nice wife too" responses from those you have met, but nothing whatever from one soul defending your value to these boards to those who visit to learn something about flying, travel, or earning points.

Yes, you may have been here a long time, and yes you have met a lot of FT'ers socially, and that is great for all of you. I too have met some wonderful FT'ers, and hope to meet more. It is one of the strengths of FlyerTalk. but note it IS called FlyerTalk for a good reason. You might meet nice people to on the Yahoo Ice Hockey or Baseball Cards chat boards - knowing about travel is not essential there either. But you seem to add NOTHING to the sum total of knowledge on points or tips to the great bulk of FlyerTalk users? All it is seems to be is concerted and relentless spiteful and vicious barbs against me via yourself and another few user names. Your friends perhaps then? So be it.

I will not post further on this thread either, and play into your hands. And I might politely suggest others do not either, but that is their call entirely. I am sure there will be another new bogus name pop up along the lines of the few above, to keep the "campaign" alive by reviving it in days or weeks time. So be it. They disappear from sight due to total boredom from all others here, and BINGO you go raise them again. You dredged this to the top after 3 months, and I will make this one response and no more. Very wise heads on these boards have urged me not to let these threads drag on by being baited into continual responses, which I was once foolish enough to do. I have taken that excellent advice, and other than YOU initiating their resurrection, the bulk of FT'ers seem to be saying: "we are not interested in this stuff, it is boring unproductive flaming, and just let it die.
