Airline On-line Instant Win Sweeps/Games

So why are all these airlines (NW/DL recently) have these on-line games/contests. I play them, but I really wonder if it really does improve multiple visits to websites AND actually increasing bookings....what is the bottom line. Obvisously the eprize.net company has convinced them that it's worth all the money in this very tight business....Thoughts?

I, for one, have never won. I used to play them when Starwood had them but stopped since it was rather discouraging.

I would be interested if anybody on FT actually WON one of these.

People do win

My wife's Starwood ID and I both won an online prize a couple years ago playing the Starwood Win the World online contest. Could only accept one prize though. Both were trips (hotel and air) to San Francisco, so that made it pretty easy.

Last year I won a free tix on LX on a contest they had on their website back then.

Funny thing... it was late at night about to go to sleep, when I get an email from an unknown address. I open it, and it's all in German, I was going like "...?!" .. then I scroll down the page and I find the English section which was congratulating me for winning and listing the phone numbers to call...

P.S.: Another SWISS contest is on right now apparently:

Good luck to everyone

Won BUT....

Over the summer, my friend and I flew intra-asia flight on KLM and both entered the KLM Dream Vacation contest. My friend was one of the lucky winner. The prize was a pair of KLM ticket to Lima, Peru. The trip must originate from BKK. We live on the opposite side of the globe.

The NWA info instant win game excludes Florida and Puerto Rico. I live at my mom's in Rhode Island part time though I won a $250. sonystyle.com ecoupon the first day the games began.

back to the original question....

So what is the purpose of these games? Do they really have the desired effect aside from generating topics on FT? Any marketing people out there??

I was an Orbitz winner

When Orbitz.com started up, they said that upon registration your name was put into a drawing for free roundtrip ticket on an airline that services your area (or something like that).

I only signed up to be able to search/book flights, but many days later I received a letter telling me I'd won a free roundtrip ticket, with a claim form I needed to get notarized to claim my prize.

So it can happen...

How lazy can you get .... there is a clearly marked "HELP" in red next to each question. When you click there, you get a page which contains the answer.

The answers:
Richard Nixon
Charles Lindberg
Henry Ford
Geneva

Oh, you mean you want the CORRECT answers.
